lowlights...I hate them!

On the spur of the moment this past Friday, I decided to get lowlights added to my very light golden blonde hair(about a level 10). I have been using allover color for about 6 years(my natural color is a medium dark blonde), and I was convinced that switching to lowlights/highlights would look much more natural and not so *blonde*. So, I got some lowlights of 7G added and now I'm not so thrilled with it. Although the technique of the stylist was great(no stripey look), because my hair was porous to begin with, the 7G that was added is more neutral than gold, and it's just too dark and unflattering to my skintone, especially around my face. The problem is, I got this done out of town(this was my first mistake), and I don't have a stylist yet where I'm living now. I'm so tempted to go get the allover color I've used before(L'oreal Excellence) and redo my hair myself, but I'm afraid, of course, of frying my hair. How in the hell do I find a reputable, experienced stylist that I can trust, or can I do something myself? I want my golden color back!Any suggestions? Thanks to anyone that can help!Kara
