Can you please explain something to me? (Hopefully you recognize my initials) But, in case you require a re-cap... I am the person who went to a pro for a hair dye job on color-treated orange hair, and ash brown was used as a base. I ended up with ashy brown colored hair when shooting for a nice warm golden blonde to light golden brown color. Then a toner was added which did leave some goldish tones on the top of my hair, but since the sides and back still looked ashy, a temporary color with reds and golds was added, but that left me with a darker brown color than I wanted.Anyway, I'm really trying to educate myself via your advice here, your hair articles, and anything else I can read about hair coloring concepts, but I'm baffled by something. If ash tones would help to correct orange/reds to a more blonde tone, (which makes sense to me), then what went wrong with my hair salon experience? The stylist did use the color spectrum method, and based on that, and my orange hair at the time, it would seem that adding the ash colors would have been the correct thing for her to do to arrive at the golden color (minus orange) that I had wanted, so I don't understand what happened. It was "foiled" all-over alternating the foils with one foil as the base color and the other the highlight color, and left on for about 20 minutes, maybe 25 tops. I just want to understand, so that I don't make similar mistakes myself in the future. Also, I have purchased a level 8 light golden blonde color with gold as the base. Since quite a bit of the temporary red/gold color has lifted and my hair looks lighter with sort of a mixture of some gold and some ash tones throughout it, will I risk brassy greenish or orangey tones if I use the color I bought? Thanks William...I'm sorry to bother you, but I just want to be as sure as I can about things before I do anything.
