I had some estrogen dominant symtpoms and tried progesterone cream for one month. The side effects were horrible!. I stopped it after one month, and 2 & a half months later my hair started falling out like I just delivered a baby!. It's been 7 months now and I still am in "damage control" mode and want my full hair back. My hair still falls out and my scalp sometimes burns! Has someone else been through this or can someone suggest a solution? ShenMin is helping a bit but I'm not sure how long I shoud stay on it.
Carol,I am so sorry that you had this horrible experience. It sounds like you have been trying to cope which is good. Can you tell me whether you think that the amount of hair loss has subsided? Usually, your hair will go through various stages. It's very much like a fever. The worst is usually 2-3months after the trauma, the loss peaks and usually subsides. Then, your hair has to go through a process of rebuilding itself. It would not be unusual for your hair to take a year or more to get back near the original condition. One thing that I would recommend to you is that you begin taking a biotin supplement in the range of 5,000mcg (5mg)for at least a month to see if that will quell the last of some of the shedding. I suggested this to a woman who shed massively from a bad perm. He shedding was at the peaking stage and it tapered off nicely with the biotin.Has your physician made any suggestions about the scalp burning?I am familiar with the ShenMin. Are u taking the straight hair formula or the Advanced Formula which has the B-Vitamins along with the Fo-Ti? I do believe that both of those products have black pepper in them. Am I correct? I don't know whether the scalp irritation could be attributed to the original trauma or the pepper in the ShenMin. Some people have had such reactions from what I have heard. Additionally, I really wonder, like you, how long you should be taking that stuff. Some people swear by Fo-Ti in terms of staving off the grays and keeping the hair strong. From what I have heard the worst reaction is possibly stomach upset from taking an excessive amount. But, with herbs, individual reactions vary greatly depending on dosage and length of time on the herb. No definite here. What I think might help greatly is the B-Complex vitamins to basically help to rebuild your hair. I have been through hair loss myself via an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and I know how devastating it can be. But, your hair will strengthen and grow again. Just some time, patience and consistency with things like the B vitamins.Essentially, at a bare minimum, a B-Complex vitamin (100mg) as often as two to three times daily, additional supplements in divided doses of biotin (5mg), pantothenic acid (1,000mg), and inositol (250-300mg). With these alone, you should notice a substantial improvement within 1-2months.If you are interested in some good hair formulas without the Fo-Ti, drop me a line.Bye for now,JadeI had some estrogen dominant symtpoms and tried> progesterone cream for one month.
