I have naturally light to medium ash brown hair that was dyed a reddish brown some months ago. I have had two salons dye it back to its natural color, and put beigey highlights in, but the ash brown color washes out, leaving me with brassy hair. I am using Aveda Blue Malva shampoo to counteract the brassiness. I assume I will have to keep putting a semi-permanent color on, or use a colour shampoo and/or colour conditioner until my natural color grows in...??? Does anyone have any suggestions? Help?
hi tammyi have the same problem with brassy tones coming through, and trying to counteract them. I've discussed this with my hair stylist...The least damaging thing to do is to use shampoos/conditioners like the Blue Malva to counteract the brassy tones. But sometimes it's not really enough. You can use semi permanent (not too damaging) to help, too. I've done this. Ultimately, I've found that I will have to just let it grow out to really eliminate 100% of the old color and subsequent brassiness.hope this helps:) silvie

hi tammy :)I recommend going with the Aveda custom color line, since it has the highest concentration of color. I have found the folks at Aveda to be very well trained in the use of their colors, and can tell you exactly what to blend to get the best results for your hair. In general, the black malva is really only for dark or black hair, so that's not the most appropriate choice for your hair color. They have a lighter custom color (although I dont know the name of it) that will effectively neutralize the brassy tones in your hair (to the greatest extent possible, that is) will also matching your normal hair tone.good luck tammy. let me know how it goes,silvie
