I just picked up some pantothenic acid capsules 500mg today and was wondering does it work better on growing your hair if you take more than one capsule or not....

Balch. In the chapter on Hair Loss (pgs. 294-295), the suggested dosage of pantothenic acid is 100mg., three times a day.If I were you, and if I had already opened the bottle, I would take one of those 500 mg. capsules per day until they are gone, and buy the 100 mg. thereafter. Many supplements are more effective if taken in divided doses throughout the day, but even if you decide to take your 500mg. caps three times a day, I don't think you would suffer any ill effects because it is a water-soluble vitamin and any excess that you body can't use is excreted through the kidneys. So, in effect, the excess is wasted. It is not stored in the body, as oil-soluble vitamins are.I have seen no cautions on overdosage for pantothentic acid as I have for some other supplements.Hope this helps, and that it is not confusing.Ethel

Tanya,I would suggest that you take a B-Complex Vitamin, either 50 or 100mg depending on your preference, divide the dose, too. Then, take an additional pantothenic acid supplement as Ethel suggested. For growth and overall condition of hair, I have found that having a base B-Complex supplement and then adding to it via additional biotin, pantothenic acid, etc. has yielded the best results. Also, with water-soluble supplements especially, dividing the daily dose works best. Overall, I think the results and definitely the costs are much better than the time-release or sustained- release forms.**Jade**I just picked up some pantothenic acid capsules 500mg> today and was wondering does it work better on growing> your hair if you take more than one capsule or not....
