I have thick, wavy, dry hair, & it's shoulder length but I am tryinto grow it out. Can anyone reccomend some good shampoos/conditioners that are cheap too? (Like Wal-mart) I want my hair to be smooth and silky. It's smooth underneath but the top layer is frizzy. And no matter what I do my hair is really inflexible. Is there anything I can do? Also, I was thinking of coloring my hair...has anyone tried Revlon colorsilk? I want something that won't make the dryness worse. Well, thanks, jen

If your hair is already dry I wouldn`t suggest you to drying it, it´s one of the worst thing you can do...but some people think it´s worth it..One cheap and really good product is Nature´ Gate, I would suggest you to try the Biotin line, personally I think ít´s the most moisturizing line, but mayby your hair like another line of Nature´s Gate...You can also do weekly hot oil treatments, you will see a big different after some treatments. Also if you surfing around here at hairboutique you will learn alot about haircare!! It´s a amazing site!

coloring the hair almost always makes the dryness worse, to greater or lesser degrees, depending on the quality of the hair color product used and its ingredients/amount of ammonia and/or peroxide.hair color is less damaging, however, if you are not bleaching or lightening, but only depositing a color on your hair. such as a med brown dying to a red or darker brown. you may want to consider trying a non-damaging alternative, such as color shampoo/conditioner.if you choose to color your hair with as dye, select a brand that specifically says "low" or "no ammonia/peroxide" on the label. also, i suggest doing regular (weekly) deep conditioning/ moisterizing treatments. color shampoos and conditioners will help extend the "life" of the hair color you choose.:) silvie

Well, thanks,> jenTo Jen:Buy some Wella Kolestral heavy conditioner and some wheat germ oil , mix enough to throughly saturate your hair using the wheat germ oil to 'thin down' the kolestral. Warm in a microwave to just warm and apply to wet hair for 30-60 mins rinse with very cool water. Get the wheat germ oil at the health food store/kolestral at wal mart.williamwilliam

I have wavy hair and I manage to keep it less frizzy by conditioning in the morning (I comb the conditioner through with a wide-tooth comb), I rinse but I leave a little bit of conditioner in my hair. When you go shopping for conditioner, look for anything that suggests it's for damaged, dry hair-- don't get clarifying or body-building conditioners. Shampoos don't seem to make much of a difference, but getting a good emollient conditioner is a good idea. I skip brushing since it seems to make my hair frizzy in the back especially, and then I use gel (a non-sticky version meant to define) to define the waves I have into ringlets. I twirl small locks of hair with my fingers, especially in the back, and then I scrunch them with my palms. Then I let it air-dry. This seems to keep the waves more defined and keeps frizzies and fly-aways to a minimum.
