since you've already deposited the color on your hair, trying to re-dye light brown will NOT work. you'll probably only make it darker. As the fmaous william of this board has often advised, "hair color is not hair paint!" putting a lighter color of hair dye will not lift out the darker color already deposited there. you would have to do a pretty damaging double-process on your hair to go back and re-dye successfully to a lighter brown. that means you'd have to start by lifting out (i.e. bleach/stripping) the previous color before you could use a new, lighter color.this is very damaging to the hair.My suggestions:If you used a semi-permanent color, the color will fade out gradually on its own and you can accelerate the process by shampooing frequently. also, use a clarifying shampoo.if it's a permanent color, it is much harder to get the color out. it typically has to grow out. you may, however, have some luck getting the darkness to tone down by following the same approach described above for semi-perm. color. Or, if you're really unhappy with your hair color, you can have the double-process technique (described above) done to remove the darker color and start over. but please dont try that at home! you will get good results if you go to a salon and take a picture of the color you want. if you try it at home, you'll likely fry your hair and not end up with the color you want, but something orange or red.in any event, remember that any time you color or chemically process your hair, you are making it more dry, porous. i strongly recommend you do regular deep treatments (conditioner/moisterizer) on your hair. check out william's hair color tips on this web site for even more info on hair coloring.hope this helps! silvie
