QuoteReplyTopic: Need Advice About Bad Layer Cut... Posted: January 12 2000 at 5:55am
I had a friend of mine cut my hair a few days ago. Big mistake. She cuts her sisters hair, and does such a nice layering on her hair, that I felt confident in taking her up on her offer to cut mine. I don't know where things went wrong, but this is the situation I'm now left with...I wanted short layers at the top that fall forward a bit across my forehead sort of like bangs, and gradual longer layers down the sides and back. This is difficult to explain, but I'll try. It's like she cut too much off for the top and my sides don't start until further back a ways like some of the top hair should have been left for the sides. (sorry if this doesn't make enough sense). It just doesn't look right. I have shoulder length hair and refuse to cut it short. I would be willing to go about an inch and a half shorter if that would help, but that's it.Any suggestions? I realize that there isn't a whole lot that can be done other than let it grow out, but since its the top shortest part that needs to grow out quite a bit to correct things, I'll be waiting forever. Is there something I could ask a pro to do either now or in a couple of months to even it out, and help it to grow out to a point where it can be cut to the way I wanted it in the first place? I'd really appreciate advice on this. Thanks!
You have three options:1. Go to a salon and let a pro cut your hair in a new style. Probably your hair will be quite short after your visit.2. Just wait till the hair on top grows out. This will take a couple of months, in this time you can cut the sides and back in stages to match with the hair on top. After a few months your hair will be in the style you intended.3. Go to a salon and get hair extensions. This is an expensive option.Good luck, Helen

Hi,> 2. Just wait till the hair on top grows out. This will> take a couple of months, in this time you can cut the> sides and back in stages to match with the hair on> top. You might just have to style the top layer as bangs for awhile if it is too short for a french braid. Good luck!Erika
