QuoteReplyTopic: My Extensions Look Totally FAKE. Posted: January 12 2000 at 6:23am
I just had extensions put on two days ago. I bought real hair and the woman matched my haircolor perfectly. The woman put three wefts on my scalp using the method mentioned here on this website (tiny braid, sewn with heavy thread)She also put them in the correct places according to this website. They are nice and secure yet not painful. You would think that with all this having been done correctly, my hair would look great. It looks TOTALLY FAKE.It is so obvious that I have long hair under my own hair. When she put the highest extension on, it was then covered by my own hair which is one length and comes down to the bottom of my neck. The extensions go five inches below that to about the start of my bra.I never stopped to think about where is the hair at the top of my head going to go? It has to be showing because you can't have the extension sewn at the part line of your hair. Everyone would see it. In order to hide it, you HAVE to have your own hair over it.So now I have neck length hair with long hair hanging down below it. My husband said it looks like you have long hair and you put on a short wig over it but forgot to tuck up the long hair.THIS is what I paid $500.00 for? When the website explains extensions, it doesn't mention this end result.
I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with your extensions. You specifically mention that the website does not mention what you experienced. We try very hard, here at the Hair Boutique, to give the best information that we possibly can. We can not, however, anticipate every imaginable type of scenario that can happen although we can provide a general rule of thumb of what to expect IN GENERAL.It is important to note that we are only providing information. The Hair Boutique can not guarantee or promise that the stylist you go to for any type of hair services will provide a guaranteed quality of service. We can tell you about the procedures and how they are done, but this does not mean that the person doing the service will know what they are doing, will use the best procedures or will provide you with good results. In fact, the most recent Hair Boutique article on hair extensions specifically states that you have to be very sure that you go to an expert in order to guarantee the very best results. It also talks about how important it is to use "real human hair" from either Russia or Italy to guarantee the best results.Adrian the Dreamweaver who is in Dallas, charges thousands of dollars for extensions. Adrian charges more in the range of thousands of dollars rather than hundreds of dollars. Adrian's hair extensions look very real. His work does NOT look like hair hanging down under real hair but all blends in quite naturally and looks like real long hair.Although I know that $500 is a lot of money to pay, in the hair extension world it is considered the lower end of the scale and does not guarantee real looking hair.In LA, movie stars routinely pay upwards of $25,000 for hair extensions that look real. This is because the cost of real human hair is very expensive.Unforunately many stylists attempt to do hair extensions and do not have a lot of knowledge of how to create exceptional authenitic looking results. Also, the type of hair that is used makes a major difference in the results. If the hair is not Russian or Italian, it will often look very fake.If you read the recent article about Adrian you will note that there is mention of the importance of using real hair.I wish that you had written to me personally to explain your problems so that I could have offered some possible solutions. It is my practice to personally respond to people who have experienced any hair care problems and try to help with options. If you would like to give me information on who specifically applied your extensions I will make sure to investigate it and then warn people about your experiences so they do not go through the same thing.Again, while I am sorry you had a bad experience, we can not possibly anticipate all the possible outcomes that can occur with any type of hair treatment.I strongly suggest that you revisit the hair extension stylist and either ask for a refund or insist that they reapply the extensions so that they look more natural. Since you paid a lot of money, it is important that you get satisfaction. If a hair extension expert uses great hair from Russia and applies the hair by weft method but doesn't have a lot of knowledge about extensions, there is absolutely no guarantee that you will get natural looking extensions.I am going to add a new disclaimer to all future Hair Boutique articles that we can not guarantee results and I will make sure to note your experiences for future reference.Best wishes,Karen> I just had extensions put on two days ago. That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)

Hi Jean,Sorry to hear you aren't happy with your extensions. My hair was about the same length when I had my extensions put in and the stylist cut the uppermost part of my hair in layers so that it looked more natural. My hair is fine and silky straight and she managed to get it to blend in with the extensions. Maybe you could talk to your stylist and see if she can't offer a sugestion. Hope it works out for you.Kelly> I just had extensions put on two days ago.
