I have had my hair tinted quite a trong red for some time now. I want to have some strong blonde sections put through it but my stylist has refused. She says that she can bleach sections before I have my tint freshened up but that the bleached parts will end up pink. This can't be right. I see lots of shots of styles on the web with blonde and red together. What can I have done? Am I asking my stylist for the wrong thing or should I change my stylist. I really want some thick blonde sections through my red hair (maybe even all of the bangs bleaching). I wear my hair short so damage is not a real worry. At the same time what is the trendiest look in crops around (particularly red) Advice is much appreciated.
hiyou should be able to get the blonde streaks you are looking for, so i would consult another colorist. the process should be simply lifting out the red color and toning it with a blonde. it can be very difficult to lift out red (believe me--i had dark brown with red tone for a long time--it is hard to remove!). but this doesn't mean it's impossible. fortunately, you wear it short, because this process will damage your hair to some degree. i can't give you much insight on the newest crop looks, but i do suggest you get a cut in conjunction with the color process, as your hair (especially ends) will need the damaged ends removed.good luck :) silvie
i've recently had my hair cut short and find that i have 2 wash it every day in order for it to go into a style. If I use the same shampoo for more than 2 weeks my hair becomes greasier than before i've washed it. What can i do to prevent this from happening? I don't use conditioner on my hair at all could this be part of the problem?
It's true that sometimes when rinsing the tint from hair that has bleached streaks or chunks, some color grabs to the bleached hair, and this may be what your hairdresser is concerned with. That can be controlled. One way: put the bleached strands back in foil then retouch with your red tint. Another, use a chemical blocking cream on the bleached strands. I've used the kind that is meant to prevent skin sensitivity, and had good results. Although red is difficult to remove from natural hair, red tints tend to fade more readily from the hair. So even if you should rinse a bit through the bleached hair, I doubt it would be too much of a problem for long. It sounds like you are a bold soul, and a fun client so challenge your stylist to the task. If she still isn't confident, find someone who lives for this thing. ( Not only do I live for this kind of thing, I wear my hair color much like you describe.....this is what I do to mine: I use a bright mahogany red tint, then bleach some strands quite light, then use cellophane "red-ality" over the whole thing. The result is a more intense red, with very bright golden red chunks. Although it may be hard to envision, the look is featured in many salon ads)
