Ahhh what a relief to find you. Here is is: I have hair very similar to Minnie Driver and Nicole Kidman, curly, not kinky, even wavy some days, just below my shoulders and growing. It straightens extremely easily and perfectly with flattening balm, a thick roller brush, and a blow dryer, but right after I've pulled it straight and it's dry, the ends like to curl either up or under. I've tried almost everything from extra to less balm, to flat brushes, etc. Is there anything I can do to get that perfectly straight look which is so popular now? What about those straightening "steamers"?Thanks,CAD

Sounds like you have type 3b hair! Flat irons are supposedly what they use on celebrities to get that stick-straight flat look. They do cause damage with repeated use. It probably would be ok for occasional use. Have you been over to www.naturallycurly.com? There's a wealth of information for us naturally curlyheads. It's worth looking into.Related Link:Naturallycurly.com

Check out the Curly Hair Section on Hair Boutique. It is like a mini curly hair site tucked into a larger site. Lots of great tips & articles. Check out Sherry's articles too.J> Ahhh what a relief to find you. Hi there!I know, curly hair CAN be a pain sometimes :) I also recently cut mine pretty short, so straightening is now an option! There are some balms that work better then others- I have found that Phytodefrisent, Philip B., and Citre Shine make the best straightening balms available. If you are using a large 'round' brush, try going to the beauty supply store and buying a large 'oval' brush-- an oval brush will elongate the hair more (similar to a straight haired person using a paddle brush). I persoanlly don't reccomend using a flat iron on a daily basis, since this will REALLY dry your hair out. Another tip that may save you from your dry ends, is to use a heavy 'regular' conditioner as your leave-in... I highly reccomend using Terax Crema or Abba Recoup... both work wonderfully :)In addition, why don't you check out Naturally Curly .com-- you may learn to LOVE your curls like I do, and not starighten so very ofter (it will save your hair in the long run)-- but if you seriously want sleeker hair... youmay wish to opt for a texturizer (this will loosen the curl enough to make blowdrying easier-- it will NOT provide stick straight- out of the shower hair)Best of Luck!Sherry> Ahhh what a relief to find you.
