Hey... If she likes big sexy hair and you like big sexy hair then GO FOR IT!! I too wear "big hair" and my husband and I both love it. I'm also a stylist and I know that while my job is to make suggestions ultimately the client comes first. If her current stylist won't work with her then it's time to find a new stylist. Tell her to be on the lookout for other women with the kind of hair style she likes and ask them who does their hair, then check it out. Don't be afraid to go in the salon and just sit and watch before making an appointment. It's also good idea to make the first appointment a consultation only, that way she can be sure that the stylist will listen to her. In my opinion big hair will always be in style if you've got the moxy to wear it. It takes a confidant woman to buck the trends and if your wife is that kind of gal then more power to her.
Hi Jim, my first thought was ahhhh! 80s hair was the worst of all the decades I've lived through. You should've been here a few weeks ago when the this board had comments, of a humorous nature, about 80s hair. But I digress. My opinion is this: first off, what type of hair does your wife like? That should be first and foremost. Secondly, I believe that there are many, many sexy 90s styles out today. I grew up as a teenager in the 70s and have seen numerous styles come and go. I think that 90s hair styles are some of the most sexy. It's also a bad thing to constantly tease the heck out of your hair or perm it or whatever to achieve the big 80s look. A woman's hair is her crowning glory. If she doesn't take care of it, it will eventually become a disaster. No woman wants that, trust me. You both should look through magazines, etc. and/or think of people in the entertainment business you think have a look that is appealing. Then find a good stylist and go for a new, updated look. I'm sure you love your wife for more than her hair, so I doubt you'll be disappointed! Good luck, Kelly F.
Hi :)Just my opinion, but have you asked your wife what kind of hairstyle would make HER happy and she'd be most comfortable wearing? After all, it's HER hair and she's going to be the one walking around with it on top of her head all the time, right? If your wife is looking for a new hairstyle, maybe as her loving supportive dedicated husband you could accompany her to the salon, browse through the hairstyling magazines together, and choose a few hairstyles you both like. Or maybe as a compromise, she could wear her hair the way she likes it most during the week and wear it the way you enjoy her wearing it on the weekends. Hope that helps!PS. I wouldn't recommend telling your wife what you stated here about how if she doesn't wear her hair in the big sexy 80's style, you will be tempted to look at other women. A major no-no in my book, but again this is just my opinion.Happy New Year!Maria :)
