Are there any techniques or supplements you have used to grow your hair long? I have shoulder length hair and I want to grow it as long as possible as soon as possible.

Any tips???

I have mid-back length hair.
My wife would like me to grow my hair even longer and quicker than it is.

But from talking with women beauticians and hair experts I know, there are no "majic products", or gimmicks that will make your hair grow faster.

Don't worry about it and enjoy your hair at the length it is. If you don't cut it too much or too often, it will grow. Most people have hair that grows 4 to 10 inches a year, with 6 inches a year being about the average.

There is no magic potion out there. If there was that person could own the world in two seconds with the amount of money they would make. From experience on trying to grow hair after having to cut it twice due to bad hair issues, I've learned a few things. My hair is now past my shoulder blades and gets frequent complements.

First try and take a good vitamin supplement. A multi vitamin and some biotin, niacin are a few good ones. Just check around the other posts on this site and you'll see what others recommend to take. My regime is quite bigger but it's for other areas in my life too. Also eating right (getting protein) and cutting out all the junk food helps. NO SMOKING. That's killer on your hair. And skin while we're at it.

For the hair itself, just having a good routine is all you need. Try not to use too many heating products on it such as blowdryers or irons. I stopped using this and my hair almost instantly changed for the better. It just looked healthier which also meant less to trim off. Use a mild shampoo and don't wash the ends with it. Believe me the soap runoff will clean it well enough. Actually too don't wash your hair every day. This will dry it out. I wash mine 2-3x a week. I do rinse it with water and condition on other days if it needs it.
Find a good conditioner for your hair. Some may be too heavy and others may not provide enough moisture. And once a week deep condition. This will help to ensure maximum moisture. You can also find a good leave in treatment. I use one from Beyond the Zone from Sally's that helps protect it.

As for trims. The best first off is to find a good stylist that has knowledge on growing hair out. Mine refuses to let me color/highlight it very often for this dries it out too. I use a semipermanent which makes my hair gorgeous. I'm completely addicted to it now. Trimming should be done at least every 4-8 weeks to get the scraggily ends off to ensure proper growth.

It looks like a lot but once you're in a routine it'll all be second nature. My hair hasn't looked better and it grows faster (I swear) once I let it breathe and relax without using products and styling.

So just be patient and before you know it things will look better and longer.
