I think that's what she's looking for. =/ I find a contrast between black and white quite nice and a lot prettier than just another tanned body with boring brown hair.

People don't like to be bound by the limits of what the next person thinks. I love black hair, I think you should do it, it'd look really good. Don't worry about skin tones, some colours do look really stupid but that's normally on tanned skin, you should look fine.

I think your hair color is gorgeous. But I know how you feel with needing a change. I''ve been growing my hair out for a while now. My goal is mid back and I still have a bit to go. I''ve been needing changes with it too. Try doing it just a bit darker. Or do low lights. Or just play around with different hair styles. I don''t think you should dye it black though. Black hair can only look good on people with the right coloring otherwise you''ll look like a ghost.

Actually, I am just looking for a change. ;) I enjoy experimenting with my hair color, however I am cautious.

I appreciate your feedback, and I will look into that temporary dye you mentioned.

Thank you!

I wouldn't dye your hair. You have a very pretty haircolor. It has natural highlights in it. Why do you want to go black? Are you bored? Broke up with a boyfriend? Personally, I would cut it to just past your shoulders and put some layers in it, but you said you want to grow it long. My vote is to not dye it!

I think I mentioned the Origins Tealights shampoo in another post before. They make one in black, as well as other colors. I used it to maintain my hair when I dyed it back to black after a highlighting fiasco.

I suppose you can try it to see how you like your hair when it's black. And the color is supposed to wash away once you use a regular shampoo. However, your hair seems very porous, so it just might cling on to the color

As for maintaining long hair, I'm all for leaving it natural so your hair is as healthy as it can be.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a long time, but it's high time I ask the question: should I dye my blonde locks black?

I have been contemplating dying my blonde hair black for quite some time now. I am not a seasoned hair dyer. I have used a temporary/semi-permanent color on it twice in the past year and a half, once to dye it brown and the other time to color is deep red. The problem is, my hair clung on to the damn color for dear life. It "stained" it! I am talking the six week color lasted more like six or seven months! In fact, some say it never came out. I recently got highlights, however, and it brightened my hair somewhat near to it's natural hue. Below are two pictures of myself as I look today (please forgive my attire; I slept in - heh). In fact, I just took it with my digital camera. I'd love to hear your opinions, as well:

http://www.angelfire.com/goth/espritsorciere/today.jpg for the front view and http://www.angelfire.com/goth/espritsorciere/today2.jpg for the back view.

Sorry I didn't post them in here - I can't figure that image code thing out. I've never posted an image before, nor have I read anything on how to put images on here. HTML doesn't work, apparently.

Anyway. The plan is to dye it black. I would try and keep it up, too, if it looked good. The thing is, I have been growing out my hair for years and I wouldn't want to cut it off it I had to bleach it back to blonde to get rid of the black. My ends would be fried and I would have to chop my hair off, which I don't want to do. I even plan on growing it out until I reach "classic length," which should happen this year as I have about three and a half inches to go.

So, to dye or not to dye? That is the question. I could really use all of your advice as well as your opinions. If you could recommend a brand or type of black, that would be helpful. I don't know of any wash out black "dyes" either - particularly those that wouldn't stain my hair. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Whitney
