QuoteReplyTopic: Brunette back blonde? Posted: March 16 2004 at 1:40pm
I have been a blonde all my life, but natural up to 16 yrs. Lord knows why, but I recently thought I'd switch things up with a dark brown. At first, I was OK with it. Now, I HATE IT. I want to go back blonde. The colorist used a semi-permanent. I called her but she's not back until Thurs and I really would like to know what is involved in getting me back in the blonde family. Single-process, highlights? Stripping? Any advice is appreciated.
I have gone from blonde to black to brown to blonde many times in my life. sometimes i ended up with some damage. but i learned from my mistakes.
the best thing to do is get highlights. depending on the level of darkness your hair is now, you may need to go with a stronger volume, like 30 or maybe 40 volume. no matter what you will have to leave it in longer than usual because of the fact that you have color in your hair. the bleach will have to strip out the color you have in it.
no matter what, do NOT bleach twice. Leave the bleach in as long as you can until it looks the color you want. Do not wash it out early. Alot of times, the bleach may lift it up to an orange and then stop lifting no matter how long you leave it in. just because it has color in it. the best thing to do is to apply heat so that it opens the cuticle and quickens the process.
if you do double processing your hair will FRY. if for any reason, it comes out brassy, your best bet is to go over it with a toner, and wait a month and then go over it with a blonde COLOR (not bleach)
I went from blonde to black for about 6 wks. Today, I went to the salon to get the top layer bleached back to blonde c/ I thought the black was too harsh around my pale face.....so anyway
My hairstylist bleached the top layer to an orange shade, then added ash blonde color. The result is an orange-ish strawberry brown color. Not very flattering and not what I had in mind. The color is also distributed unevenly. I'm thinking of bleaching it again with a 30 developer and basic white.
I've bleached burgundy out of my hair- in two processes in the past with little damage resulting. What would you suggest to further lighten my top layer?
