true further processing will cause damage, but if your really wanting to get rid of hair use an ash color, like light ash brown or anything with "ash " in it, it will tone down the red, a whole lot,in my case my hair is a bit damaged but I used a neutral brown and teh red is almost completely out, now I will use a mix of light ash brown .peroxide and mixed with shampoo to tone it a bit more, anyway deep condition your hair frequently and wait about a month and when its strong enough GO FOR IT! but if your hair is still very weak its best to wait good luck on whatever you decide

i am goign through a similar problem and i am trying to get the red out of my hair. I was told to use ARTEC shampoo and a deep conditioner twice a week and then use a rehydrating shampoo and conditioner for inbetween. I was told in a few weeks the color should really fade and start to bring back my natural tones. I am a natural brunette, so i chose the cocoa bean color, since it is more ashy then red, to take out the redness. hope this helps...

Listen to the new colorist. Overprocessing does your hair no good and will cause further breakage. It happened to me before and I was forced to grow it out. Patience is tough, but the good news that people grow on average 6 inches a year. So that's not so bad as you grow out and then re-do your color. Haircolor will still be around anyway. Go back to that colorist the next time if she's still around.

Listien to your new stylist... sounds like she knows what she is talking about... she could easily take you money and take a shot at it, but she is willing to be patient with you and start over... sounds like a gal/guy that knows what they are talking about...

I told the colorist that I didn't want red. It came out red and seemed to get brassier and redder with time. So I went somewhere else and they did low lights... which looked crappy.. now my hair is breaking off, my natural wave is just frizz and my shine is totally gone. I put a dark semi color over it and also got a big hair cut to get rid of a lot of the damage... now my hair is much shorter than what looks good on me and the color is very dark which doesn't suit me either. I was told by a new colorist that I need to grow out the old color... if she were to do anything to change the color it would damage my hair more... break it more.. etc. Any suggestions... should I lighten it anyway? this is depressing me...
