QuoteReplyTopic: toner to get rid of red? Posted: August 12 2004 at 7:09pm
I am pregnant and went to a new hairdresser who suggested I do all over semi-permanent color to even out my hair color with low maintenance for roots. I previously had darkish, ashy brown hair and prior blond highlights keep coming back through and causing roots. I agreed to go dark brown to try to get rid of the roots and it ended up coming out a horrible burgandy tinted shade! When I called to tell her, she acted like this was what I wanted but said I could use a clarifying shampoo to get it out. I called an old colorist of mine and she said to use the shampoo and then come in for some toner to prevent pink hair. Does this sound right? Help! I am feeling unattractive enough being 7 months pregnant and now I have purple hair! I also hate to keep risking all these chemicals during my pregnancy. Thanks a ton!

Well...the first thing I would do, is not leave this to the phone call you made. Any colorist who has a customer leave unhappy needs to fix the problem- free of charge. You go to the stylist to get what you want, not to pay them all this money so that you can leave unhappy.
Second, you may not be able to fix this without use of some chemicals (I'm no colorist...I don't know what would be needed to fix it.). However, I would make a quick call to my doctor and ask if the chemicals are going to have any effect on your pregnancy. If not, do continue and have it corrected.
Remember, hair stylists and colorists have an obligation to your satisfaction. I, honestly, don't know how someone could allow a customer to leave their shop unhappy. How easy will it be for that person to go back to that stylist?
Anyway, end of rant. I hope everything works out :)
