Hi all! Has anyone used Colour Expert by Loreal? It is a two step at home coloring product where you apply the color all over the head, followed by a bayalage type of wand that supposedly produces hightlights.

Thanks!

my friend uses one of the blonde ones and loves it. I just tried the chocolate mouse and it turned my hair red and I didn't even put the reddish highlights in it. So I'm not to impressed.

I tried it too and wasn't happy. The whole highlighting thing is just a difficult , and ends up just as spotty as other at home kits. IMO

I'm not impressed. I've used it three times, twice red and once "blonde", and every time the results were not anything like the box. Too brown, starting from light brown hair.

The Red Copper Brown turns out too brown on my hair. The red was there, but it only became more apparent with time, meaning fadeage. I liked it, but it was definitely more of an auburn shade.

I just used the "Vanilla Icing"--Dark Ash Blonde-- over the prior Red Copper Brown and it dyed it DARKER brown. According to the box, it should have had no problem removing the color from light auburn hair. But instead, it's as if the peroxide never kicked in. It did neutralize the red though. Also I did the highlighting with it, but it's a warm gold over a cool hair color.

Bleah. Never again. I'll stick to Feria and Nice-n-Easy.

Ok so my friend who normally loves it was laughing at me last nite over my red hair. Then she decided to dye hers with the Colour Expert and it turned streaks of her hair (the base color) a silver greyish. Boy was she mad.

Anyways I do love the wand to do the highlighting, the last time I did mine the hairstylist wanted to know where I got it done (I used Loreal's new highlighting kits but can't remember the name of it) cause she wanted hers done like that. I had red and white streaks through dark brown hair. She was a bit shocked that it was a do it yourself kit.

The god thing is if you buy another kit such as Feria and then a highlighting kit the price is about the same as the Colour Expert.

By chance has anyone written to Loreal about their experiences? I'd like to know what they say...

I called loreal about my experience and they sent me a $20 coupon for my ordeal (nevermind it cost way more to fix it) but that was cool.

Wow.....I'm so glad I got some feedback before using this product! Has anyone had good results coloring, and also highlighting at home, over hair that was previously colored at the salon? I want to change my auburn hair to a rich brown ( my natural color is meduim to dark brown). Afterward, I want to apply copper/red highlights. Anyone have any advice on products, etc? Or is this too much of an undertaking to possibly do at home successfully?

Thanks!

I went to a product review site called MakeupAlley.comand noticed that they have tons of reviews on hair care products.

I'd take them with a grain of salt, since individual experiences can vary on even the best of products. However, you can definitely pick out quality/lack of quality trends on each reviewed product.

Lots of people had bad experiences with the Colour Experte kit.
