You know, it may also be that she just has the old fashioned idea that it can't be done. Products have improved greatly in the past 20 years so that it CAN be done and your hair can still look pretty healthy. In the old days it probably couldn't have been done without completely frying the hair. If she's still functioning on 20 year old opinions though, she needs to go back to school and re-learn.

I think that since it's more difficult and time-consuming to do a good job of turning a brunette into a blonde, she probably didn't want to bother with it.
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?
I was so upset yesterday. That woman really got under my skin. She said that the reason I can't go blonde is because I have dark hair. And that it is damaging for dark hair to go anything lighter than red. I tried to explain to her that I have had it done before, but she kept looking at me like I was lying! She asked me if I had a picture of myself with me from when I was blonde. I don't see why I would make it up. lol. Then she kept saying that I would only look good in borwn hair because I have brown eyes, but I have blue eyes. LOL Maybe she is color blind?? I should have known right off the bat not to ask about color to her because when I walked in she was trimming this girl's hair that was BRIGHT orange with white and black spots. I thought the girl did it herself but I asked her afterwards and she said that the hairdresser had stripped it. That should have stopped me. I had my hair cut my hair pretty short so that there would be less of the colored ends. I heard you can be pretty experimental with color on short hair. Anyways, I think I'll just leave it alone for now.
I agree! You certainly can go blonde, as you already know.
I don't know of any hair vitamins that will help. I tried them in the past but I didn't notice any difference in my hair's growth, and a few women have said they mess up your system (making you miss periods).
The best thing to do for healthy hair is just treat it right, don't use too many products to avoid buildup, and make sure you're eating right. A multivitamin a day is excellent, but don't take any more vitamins than that - too much of some vitamins can make you lose hair.
Sorry to hear you had to put up with such a miserable person.

Bad stylist! Did she tell you WHY you couldn't have blonde hair without it turning red? Is your hair particularly damaged? Did she even consider using a colour remover? Maybe she's just stupid. Was she recommended to you by someone? Maybe you should ask people with great looking blonde jobs where they went. Most women don't mind being asked who made their hair look so great. Everyone loves a compliment.
My natural hair colour is a level 3 brownish red. When it was 2.5 feet long, I coloured it numerous times, then bleached it, then accidentally coloured it apricot, then pumpkin, then dark walnut brown. One stylist told me that he couldn't make me blonde. He said I would have to make a choice between having long hair and being blonde.
I had my heart set on long, blonde hair. My hair still felt healthy so I decided to just do it myself. I did a LOT of research and a lot of test strands. I'm blonde now -- after 4 rounds of bleached highlights. I used a toner to get rid of the brassiness and my hair still feels healthy. My hair is 2 feet long now. I got 7" inches cut off, but it wasn't because it was damaged -- I just wanted my hair above waist length. I want to go back to that stylist and swing my long, shiny blonde hair in his face. :-)
Don't let that stylist discourage you. I saw a picture of your hair and it looks wonderfully healthy. I don't see any reason why you can't get the colour you want. You just need to find a knowledgeable pro or do it yourself.
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)
Today I went to get my hair cut and get a color consultation. I think this woman was the rudest, most ignorant stylest I have ever met. She told me that I could never have any blonde in my hair and that it would always come out red. Strange when I have done my hair a very light blonde before starting with an even darker color than I have now. To top it off she gave me a solid price on the phone of house much the cut would cost with the blowdry and then charged me $10 more after when I didn't have enough money with me because I was under false pretenses. I think she charged for for spritzing it with hairspray. I told her I was mislead. I gave her all the money I had but I was so upset! All she did was put down my hair and basically tell me that there is no hope for my hair to have it anyway I want it.
I think maybe I'll just color my hair a brown color and forget the blonde, until its all virgin hair again. Are there any hair vitamins that you guys suggest for growing strong healthy hair?
