Hey people, i'm a 20's year old male, w/ short hair (just under 1 inch), between dark and medium brown color. I've started growing my hair out longer, and i've also started spiking it up in the front as well. My Fiance loves this, and the other day I lost a bet to her. She stated I had to let my hair grow even longer and get some foil highlights, not sure what color she's thinking about, but shes mentioned peroxide blonde a few times. Anyone have any suggestions for her?? I'm slightly tan (caucasian), not pale, and i've got brown eyes. please give any suggestions.

Golden brown or caramel highlights look good on dark brown hair. That's a nice, natural look. Very complimentary. It's up to you how dramatic you want the look to be. If you're going for something more dramatic, you could get them bleached to a shade of blonde. Take a look through some magazines and find a photo of a guy whose hair you like. Take that to the salon with you when you go to get your highlights.
P.S. Something else you might like to consider -- a lot of guys with spiked hair get their hair tipped. That's where the bleach is just applied to the ends of the spiked hair. You'd have the same choice of colours, it would just be a different look.
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)
Hey thanks you two for the replys. What do golden brown highlights look like? I was actually thinking about something a few shades lighter than my base color, or going w/ an ashy blonde color. I don't want it to be bright blonde anymore. Please reply and give more suggestions!!!
Whatever color you choose will look best if it goes with the color you already have. You said medium brown, but what does it look like in the sun? Does it have any red or gold in it? Or does it shine more of an ash tone? If you've got gold or red in it, you may do best with the golden blondes or light browns, and platinum blonde would also be okay (but dramatic). If no gold or red in it, then maybe ash tones are better for you. If you are tan, I'm betting you are probably golden, but you will have to decide that for yourself.
