Im assuming that your hair is probably only a level or two lighter then the level 1 black since its faded, so its not going to be much harder to bleach whether its your current color or black. I would suggest you dye it your desired color first and then proceed with bleaching it. Bleachiing NATURALLY black hair is a little difficult, but bleaching COLORED black hair isn't as hard as it may seem.

Hi, what abt bleaching nat. black hair that colored black? Just curious.

Bleach the ends first before you do the black. In order to get ANY pink shade to show up your hair needs to be as light as humanly possible. After you bleach/dye the ends..foil them up (ya sounds wierd but speaking from expierence) then do the black, black is REALLY difficult to bleach out so that's why you want to do the tips first.

I want to color the ends of my hair pink or bright red but my hair is black. I also need to re-dye my whole head black as it washed out or something but it looks brown now, so first of all do you think I should die my whole head black and then red/pink or should I dye the ends/underneath red/pink first and then the rest black? I am afriad that the pink/red might not color over the black, will it? Thanks
