OK, someone asked me to describe what it's like when the cuticles of hair-extension stands aren't aligned in the same direction. For me, it's as if I sprayed a can of hairspray all over my head--it's hard to get a brush through it, the strands all seem to "catch" on each other, and it doesn't fall in a smooth way (instead, sections of it always seem to be sticking out in some direction). The hair also develops a lot of knots (about halfway down the length); the grouped strands want to become dreads somehow.

Does this sound accurate, or am I off base?

It sounds like the cuticles are not alligned but I think that there might be more wrong with the hair than that. The company's processing may have been too harsh on them which would also cause them to matte. Were they nice and pretty till you washed them a few times? Some companies put a silicone layer over hair to make it pretty but it washes off quickly and you're left with a mess What type of hair is it?

This happened to me when I first started out, I bought silicon-tipped asian hair from additionallengths.co.uk colour 613 and put them in with micro-rings. The hair was disgusting after three weeks, it was fine at the roots but after my client complained I didn't think the hair could be that bad, so I asked her to let me wash it. I used intensive conditioner and just couldn't comb the knots out. I had to take it all out and redo it.

That sucks. Getting bad hair is the worst!

Question: Do any of you think the quality of dark hair (even within the same brand) is better than the lighter colors? I ask primarily because the best hair I've ever used happened to be black, and I'm wondering if all the bleaching just ruins otherwise good-quality hair.

I think that sometimes is true but I had a few black pieces in with the 613 and they also tangled terribly xx

I'm either only going to buy human hair I've already tried and trust or I'll get what others recommend like the bohyme or I'm getting the synthetic in the ProStyles or Plastikhaar. I'm not experimenting on all these web sites anymore that sell this so-called "human" hair. I'm tired of being taken by them.
