I want to try high quality synthetic hair, and I give credit to everyone here who has the patience to tip their own hair, but I definitely don't! Not to mention that I am not very good with tasks that require any sort of manual dexterity.
Well, I've used Cinderella before, and I thought the hair was OK (not great, not bad), but those bonds totally trashed my real hair. If your hair responds well to fusion (if it's thick, strong, healthy), they may work for you; if not, I would look into something else.
I believe Kristin has used Cinderella before and much prefers other brands of hair, like Bohyme. If you do a search here, you should find lots of info. on Cinderella.
Oh, wait! I just re-read that and I'm totally confused. At the top of the page, it says 100% human hair Cinderella, then further down it says synthetic Profibre. I have no idea what that is, but obviously they've made an error on their website.
Yeah I don't know why it says cinderella at the top of the page, that confused me too! But I was inquiring about the pretipped synthetic and using them for shrinks or microlinks.
that is prebonded not pretipped. prebonded is used with fusion or bonding where they glue the hsir in. those are too big to fit in the shrinkies or microrings i believe
Merguthrie is quite right; they're meant to be bonded to the hair itself (which is why I thought they might be Cinderella; the bonds look similar). You wouldn't use them with Shrinks or microrings. As I said before, those types of bonds totally trashed my real hair. If your hair responds well to fusion (if it's thick, strong, healthy), they may work for you; if not, I would look into something else.
That said, you wanted to know about the quality of this synth. Obviously, I've never used this hair, but I think it's silky straight Kankelon--not salon-quality synth, like Dome, ProStyles/ProHair, Trimco, Plastikhaar, etc. You could use it for loose extensions, but it wouldn't be the best option. If you want best-quality synth, I would suggest that you stick with one of the brands I just listed. I know the stuff on Savagelily is called Profibre (making it sound like Prostyles/Prohair), but they're not the same thing.
You may be able to get a more definitive answer by posting on that site http://pub126.ezboard.com/fhair18356frm6 The girls there have a lot more experience with synth (most of us here have been using human and are just starting to venture into the synth world).
Actually you can use those with rings or shrinkies, you just have to trim the tip down to fit, then you could put a little nail glue on it to stabilize it before using whichever extension method you choose.
Emma, That sounds like a good idea. My only concern is that the bonds I used that looked like that were quite soft and pliable--gummy when heated, in fact--a different texture than the liquid gold pretipping yields. Do you think the nail glue be adequate to harden them up, or would you also add a layer of liquid gold? I just get very concerned about the possibility of anything melting in my hair.....
I just melted the tips of a few strands of prebonded(fingernail shaped tip, my supplier calls it nailhair) with my fusion wand and rolled them and they worked perfect for shrinkies just like the stick type pretipped hair.
Fair enough--I guess this means that pretipped can have a new life all it's own with Shrinks and microlinks! Admittedly, I'm not very good with the glue. In fact, I'm gluephobic, due to a couple of terrible experiences I had with it early on.
I know you use nailglue/keratin, Sherrie, correct? Does it damage your hair at all? It looks to me (from the photo I saw) that your hair is pretty strong and healthy, or is that the extensions? I just think if I had any more fusion, I'd have no hair left at all (not that I have much now, but...).
I use the keratin prebonded hair (nailhair- referred to cause of the shape of the tip) I dont use any other glue on the tips. My natural hair is very damaged. Ive always had dry, brittle hair. And I do all the things I shouldnt do that damages it further. I have a minimal amount of extra damage that Im sure is caused by the fusion extensions. Which is why I always look for better ways....I would like to eliminate some of the damage I do to it so maybe one day I will have my own long natural hair. Ive used extensions for several years now, and ALL the methods I have tried do some amount of damage....I guess I just keep searching for that better method!
Right. I hear you. My hair's bleached, thin, and everything problematic in the book. I had Cinderella, Great Lengths, Hairlocs--all incredibly damaging. I primarily have pinchbraids now, which are much easier on the hair, but I think Shrinkies and extendtubes are good options, too--Shrinks having the added advantage of being so undectable.
Even though you're real hair's damaged, you'd never know it by looking at your photos; your extensions look terrific, and the overall effect makes it look quite thick and healthy (way healthier than any 613 hair ever is in real life).
Thanks for the replys! I was thinking along the lines of what Sherrie and Emma said, about cutting the bond down a bit and maybe melting and rolling them to be used in the shrinkies. It would be wonderful if that hair is good quality synthetic - like along the lines of prohair or dome.
