Got the package today and I was actually afraid to open it. I did open it and there was this very thick ponytail in a large ziplock bag. Opened the bag but did not want to touch the hair ( but I was thinking, "My god, what beautiful hair"). Got enough nerve to touch it and it is fantastic hair and get this - at least 14 ounces of it. The hair looks better in person than the picture, pretty much all one length with no split ends. The hair is very, very, very, silky and matches my hair texture to a T and almost my same hair color too. Also in the mail came my goldbond so I thought I would experiment with this bonding thing. After a few tries it was pretty easy and the hair bonded well. The hair is about 16/17 inches which is about 4 inches longer than my own hair at this time. My microlinks are coming soon so I thought I would just try this hair out with them to see if I like micro-links or not. I will be the experiment gal here and put these things on my head and see how they wash and wear. I was going to buy the 16 inch in Bohyme but now that I have this hair I just think I will use it for experimental purposes before I spend over $100.00 for the other. I do know that after looking a bit more on Ebay people who make dolls use hair such as this for their dolls hair, so if I look at it that way it is not so creepy. I am a living doll
Absolutely! Since you have it, give it a go and see how you like it. Just don't video yourself getting it taken out and then sell it on ebay. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww hahahahaha!
If I were you, which I'm not, I'd call the FBI & have them do a DNA search on these hairs... u never know! Nah.. just kidding, good find girl & good luck, post pics!
Kimbearly, how are you coming along with that ponytail? have you determined it to be real? are you using shrinkies to put in the hair? can you put up a picture?
The ponytail is just wonderful hair and I have been working on bonding the hair (which is kind of hard with a 3 and 6 year old running around, but I am getting there). My micro-rings should be coming any day now and that is the last thing I need. I will post pictures of before and after and then after after with the dark red I bought from Kristen. Dealing with the bulk hair has been easy since this person had all one-length hair, which was in superior condition. I have been sectioning off the hair into little sections and it is easy to work with that way. After the hair is bonded and dried I then dip it in clear nailpolish (which I read is good for extra strength). Once that is dried I then wash the hair and let it hang dry. It is soooooooo nice to have hair that the comb just glides through instead of the Indian hair crap I have right now (weft). Overall this cut hair thing off of Ebay might not be such a bad idea. After all if you are using it for extensions or for doll hair. You really have to look beyond the sickos out there who use it for (don't want to think about it), but here I received top quality cuticle hair - can't get any better than that!
I haven't heard about dipping the tips in clear nail polish, although I have heard about brushing the nail glue on the tip for reinforcement. Do you remember where you saw that? It sounds like a good tip. :)
Good for you Kim, Im glad you got a good deal, although Ive heard heard too many bad reviews of ponytails bought off ebay. I dont think many people are that familiar with what extension quality hair really is. Some people are just out to make a buck and to them, hair is hair. But anyway, Im glad yours turned out good!
Hmmm... I think Kristin and AMM use nail glue, not polish, but I could be mistaken. I'm not sure how actual polish would react with the Liquid Gold and the heat; it might be best to double-check with other people to make sure (or to test a few of them first, not on your head). My only concern would be the flammability factor or that the polish would crack or absorb into your own hair.
Again, I could be totally wrong on this, but I did think it was a light brushing of nail glue (like 5-minute nail glue or NailTique) on the tip, rather than polish. If you're concerned, I would just post an emergency thread Attn: Amm and Kristin, and I'm sure they and others will jump in.
yep, its nail glue that the girls here use over the liquid gold. It should be alright though since nailpolish removes with acetone the same as the glue from pretipped hair. Although Im not sure about the heat being applied to the nail polish?? Might smell funny? hmmmm good question
ooohh I didnt even think about it possibly absorbing into the hair...and yes polish is flammable but I dont think the heat is enough to ignite, maybe melt..but then again, I dont really know!
Yeah, I really don't know either. Theoretically, nail glue is flammable too, but that seems to work fine. More than anything, I think it might crack over time, with washing perhaps. This might be one to ask the girls at Quinnster's....
Ive posted for a long time at Quinnsters and I had never heard about using the nailglue on the tips before coming here so Im not sure if anyone there uses it or not, but its worth a try. It would kinda suck to have the polish cracking and flaking like dandruff in your hair.....
Ohhh microrings, then the flammability wouldnt be an issue at all. At least theres one worry eliminated! I guess I should have read the post a little better!
OK. So you're not using heat. It may work quite well then; who knows? People do use clear nail polish for a lot of different things, so I doubt you'll have many problems with it. Worst case scenario is you have to retip some strands, but again, it might actually work better your way.
