Kristin,

On your website it shows the microlinks method and I've also read your threads about shrinkies and fusion (with keratin I think). Since you use all of those methods, which one do you like the best and why?

I never used microlinks because I heard all the stories about the breakage. I realize that some people have had success with it, but I don't want to risk it.

I tried heat shrink tubing and didn't really like it. I've heard that shrinkies are a little less rigid, but for some reason, I'm just not too fond of this method.

That's why I've been testing out the fusion method. I'm just really scared of breakage. I know you read my other post about making the bonds close to the scalp and getting roots pulled out. So I'm trying it again a little further away. I also ordered the X-10 glue (which I heard you mention somewhere else). I guess I'm just wondering if you have any tips/advice for fusion. Do you have any pictures of the bonds you've done with fusion? And are you using a hot pot?

Thanks again to everyone who's answered my threads. I really appreciate all the help everyone is willing to give. This is a really nice place.

One reason that I offer different techniques is because what works for one person doesn't always work for all people.

I know how to do shrinkies, microlinks, and fusion. I have the least amout of experience with shrinkies but from what I've heard from the other ladies on this site, they're awesome.

I like how fusion seems to stay in firmer as apposed to the links which tend to sometimes slip. The positive side to links is that if you're pulling too hard on your hair you'll know it when you loose an extension and it won't take your hair with it. If you're worried about damage I'd stick to the links.

I usually do a combination on my hair with links underneath and fusion around my hair line and part line.

Here are a couple pictures:

Here's a picture of a girl I did with fusion... It's the only one I have and it doesn't show the amount of hair I attached it to very well (it looks like less in the picture)... I hope it helps...

Here is a picture of links that I did... sory it's so small, I couldn't find the original....

I did NOT do this application but it was done well (it's about 9 weeks grown out). This girl told me her pre-tipped bonds were cut in half before they were put on so a full bond would equal two of these:

I did NOT do this work but I saved it when I saw it on the net:

Oh yeah, I have the gun and the hot pot... I like the gun better for applictaion purposes.

Kristin, you're the only person Ive heard that likes the gun better, can you tell me why you like it better? What are the advantages of the gun? Im curious. Do you think the gun or the hotpot is better for a beginner without the fusion experience? I always suggest the hotpot because I think it helpsto cut down on shedding issues, but Im curious to hear your opinion since you have alot more fusion experience.

I like it because it's easier for me to apply it that way with less dripping and "glue webs". I started out with the hot pot and do like it but I’m quicker with the gun and I personally didn't notice much of a difference in shedding...

I have however heard on these chat rooms that the pots are better for cutting down on shedding....

Anyways, I guess the gun just works for me...

Wow, thanks for the pictures Kristin. You're super helpfull! Just out of curiosity, in the one picture where you said the fusion was done by someone else but was done very well, what about it makes it so good? Also, I notice in the back of the head, fusion is done in a straight line across the head. How does everyone position it in the front and tops of the head. I've been doing it in a straight line from the front (as in near the forehead) to the back of my head, parallel to the natural part of my hair. Does anyone else do that? Or is there a better way?

You're welcome. I said that example was done well because the proportion of the clients hair was in good proportion to the extension hair. She also had no breakage or knotting which I also consider to be evidence of a great job.

As far as how they are placed in rows, some people do horizontal lines and some do a rounded line that looks like an up-side down rainbow (only kinda streched out). I personally try to round it a little in the back and then I do parallel lines on the sides. I stay at least one inch away from and part lines and hair lines.
