You know, it's interesting that you ask, because I've seen both systems advertised in major magazines, but when I've gone to the websites, they've never worked. I believe one of their ads only had salon listings for CA, so maybe it's a regional thing.
I've been wearing extensions, and reading about them, for quite a while now, and I've never heard anything about either of those companies (which is strange). :)
thank you! i''m just a bit nervous ... there is a call for hair models from them and i didn''t know (with all these traumatic experiences i''ve been reading about) if i should go or not.
I looked at that first link. What the heck is that on the ends of the hair? The pic is kinda blurry and it looks like computer parts...lol...I wonder how they're attached if it says no glue, no wax, no etc....?
yeah i wish i had more knowledge of this sort of thing before i said i would go in to model. the gentleman sounds really nice and who knows he may not even pick me ... but i'm just worried now ... if it is this horrid great lengths sort of method ... does that necessarily mean that i am just volunteering for trauma?
Well, GLs gets around the "glue issue" by saying they use Keratin, which is still glue as far as I'm concerned. That said, this may be OK for you, depending on your current hair and the style you want to achieve. Have they given you any information about the techniques they use or the hair? Is your hair relatively strong and healthy, or do you have fine, thin, chemically treated, or damaged hair? :)
hmmm, he said that it was human hair, that he's trained the extension people at relatively famous hair salons here in CA (i'd rather not say which so that i'm not making any trouble) and but did not say what sort of method he would be using. he did say that the extensions could stay in somewhere between 2 months and 4 months and they would give me free monthly maintenance for that time.
my hair is very strong, it has been chemically treated a number of times but never breaks, splits or frays. i have fine hair but TONS of it (make sense?) and its almost shoulder length. i've had extensions in before but just waistlength braids ... no damage after they came off (almost 3 months later).
i hope hope hope this isn't the first time my hair gets crappy.
Well, without knowing the specifics of what they actually use, if your hair is strong, you certainly have an advantage. It's amazing what some hair can endure, while others (like mine) breaks so easily.
Free maintenance is also awesome. And if the hair is anything like GLs, it's very good quality. I had GLs before, and although I'm not crazy about the method, I will say that the hair was top-notch.
My biggest problem with GLs (again, assuming this method is similar) is that they do fusion. Unfortunately, my stylist was very careless, and I have very weak hair to begin with. The hair looked good while it was in, but I had tons of breakage during removal. This is not to say this will happen to you, though.
I would urge to just find out what kind of method (fusion, links, etc.) it is first, so you can do as much research as possible before you make a decision.
so i just found this on the site: "HAIRDREAMS volumes are hand-woven micro chains connected together to form networks and then fastened to the shaft of your own hair. Because the volume "shifts" from the hairline with the natural growth of your own hair, a top-up service is necessary every four to six weeks depending on hairstyle and length. Your hairdresser removes the HAIRDREAMS volume and re-attaches at your hairline. After a wearing period of six to eight months your volume is sent to HAIRDREAMS, where it is reconditioned by the HAIRDREAMS experts. "
"Hand-woven micro chains connected together to form networks and then fastened to the shaft of your own hair"? I have absolutely no idea what that might mean. Anyone want to take a stab at it?
Because the volume "shifts" from the hairline with the natural growth of your own hair, a top-up service is necessary every four to six weeks depending on hairstyle and length. Your hairdresser removes the HAIRDREAMS volume and re-attaches at your hairline. That sounds legit, if a bit frequent.
After a wearing period of six to eight months your volume is sent to HAIRDREAMS, where it is reconditioned by the HAIRDREAMS experts. I would think they'll probably be putting a new silicone layer over it, or doing something like a cellophane treatment. Question is, what do you do in the meantime, while you're waiting for your hair to come back?
I wish we could find someone who'd used this method before....
Inkeddaisy: if you want to be a hair model you should go for it. When you get there, ASK QUESTIONS!! If they want to start putting extensions in and wont tell you EXACTLY what they are going to do BEFORE they touch your hair, then you can just leave.
Good luck and let us know what happens if you decide to go.
THANK YOU BOTH for being so helpful! Jenny_RR, I await any information that can be found but I think I might go ahead and go check it out. What the heck ... you're right EmmaSkye ... I can leave anytime!
I'll let you both know if i find out any other information!
Yeah, I saw that, too, and it's just fusion. But from the description, you'd think something quite different. I suppose we'll find out soon enough. Good luck! :)
