I had a client come in with a weave that was done at Chicago hair extensions. It looked like the hair that formed the track was completely encased in thread, thus forming a thread like cocoon around the natural hair. I think a lot of knots were involved too.
Chicago hair extensions? Is that a shop, or a method? If it's a shop, I might know what it was (by who did it).
Sounds kinda like the Natural Track/thread weaving method? I know Hairpolice and their affiliates do it. I've seen photos, but damned if I know how it works: http://hisandher.com/howdo_weaving_14.asp
I tried that pole weaving...it's a pain in the ass because you have a pole that needs the proper tension to your clients head at all times. As soon as you spin your client in the chair, the whole tension thing has to be resituated. Personally I think small cornrows with synthetic, or string included is fastier, easier, and just as good.
The website from where this girl got her hair done is www.chicagohairextensions.com
The site doesn't go into too much detail.
I don't think this girl had a pole weave. A track of her natural hair was completely encased in thread. It looked like one of those decorative hair wraps where you use embroidery floss to encase the hair. It had that appearance, except it was a horizontal track on the scalp, and boy was it a bugger to take out! In any case, it did hold in very well on her fine hair!
