Now that this board has become VERY BUSY I wonder if it might be time for the administrators to start appointing moderators to the board. What went on yesterday was CRAZY. And with the amount of visitors this site is getting these days we will probably start seeing more of it in the future. I post on several different boards, on many subjects and this is the only board that I know of that isnt moderated regularly. And right now this is one of the busiest boards! What went on yesterday, went on ALL DAY. And hopefully not again today! So Karen Shelton I hope you see this!
We do have HB administrators that are specifically paid by HB.com to monitor the boards on a daily basis. We do ask that the posters on all of the boards like this one, help us know where problems exist or have popped up. The rules at HairTalk have always been to email someone at HairBoutique.com to let them know a problem has popped up.
In the future, please email me at: shelton@hairboutique.com to let me know there is a problem on this board and I will make sure that it is taken care of as soon as possible by one of the HB Administrators.
It helps speed things up if you can include the name of a poster that is causing trouble or links so we can go right to the problem and deal with it.
Please know that while we can block specific users and IP Addresses, we do need help knowing when to do that. We have even gone so far as to have the HB.com attorney contact some of the ISPs of repeat posting offenders to get them permanently blocked from HairTalk. It is a long and expensive process but we do try to keep the boards as free of problems as much as possible.
The other downside...is that some threads may require that they be completely deleted because removing just the "problem posts" can leave big holes in the thread.
I apologize in advance to any of the "regulars" whose posts get deleted in the process of removing blatant troublemakers, spammers (who want to advertise) or trolls (who just want to cause trouble and disrupt the board).
When possible, and I know it is hard to resist, please just don't answer the posts that appear to be from posters that want to disrupt the natural flow of the boards. This only encourages them to keep posting to get more reactions. Most problem posters get a thrill from causing problems, which explains why they are called trolls :-) I know it is hard not to respond when they are insulting or attacking you. The best thing you can do is send a link of the thread to me and we will go in and remove it as quickly as possible.
Thank you in advance for your help in this matter. I promise that we are always looking for ways to nip these type of problems in the bud.
Best wishes, Karen Shelton HairBoutique.com

Thank you Sherrie for your post. While I read all of the boards on a regular basis and do my own share of deleting and snipping of troll postings when I find them :-) this board is one of the ones I have always enjoyed for a number of reasons.
I receive literally hundreds of emails every day to my AskKaren column as well as to the three magazines that publish my monthly columns. There are a handful of questions that I receive constantly and some of those pertain to hair extensions.
In my quest to try and help consumers find the best answers for their extension questions I am constantly reading and researching hair extensions...both those done by professionals and the DIYers.
I am very impressed by the immense knowledge that you all have here and are so gracious and generous to share.
It honestly breaks my heart when I have to delete posts that have some wonderful tidbits of info in them that could help some confused consumer somewhere get help.
So thank you all for the great topics here and I will do my best to keep it a good place to post.
Best wishes to all, Karen
