So the picture is hosted somewhere?? Just right click on the picture, click on properties, highlight the URL (address) copy, then come here, and paste it. You then simple put a tag on it...

[ img] addy of pic you are trying to post [ /img]

you don't put the space in there though, if I did it would have attempted to find that url to post an image of.

Hope that helps.

Sherrie, I'm just taking a wild guess here, but if you're using XP with service pack 2, there might be something in the new IE security settings preventing the images from being shown (and yes it might affect netscape also) but I'm not positive. I don't have SP2 anymore because of all the problems it caused on my machine, so I don't really know where to tell you to look for the new settings. One way you could tell is to download mozilla firefox and come here using that. It won't use any of IE's defaults. (And it beats the heck out of any other browser out there, hehe.. I've not had any spyware for the 9 months or so I've used it ;))

just fyi on mozilla. I had tons of problems after downloading it....totally effed up my internet connection on that particular sign on with XP. Husband hasn't figured out the problem yet, so no clue if it is user error or not!!

as for your problem sherrie, are you talking about just the avatars you can't see (the pics by peoples username) but you ARE able to see the pics in threads people link to? If you can't see either one, maybe you can check, just to be sure, that it is set to be able to view pics. On IE click on tools, options, advance, scroll down to multimedia then be sure the show pics box is checked.

aside from that i can ask my hubby (puter geek) if nothign else works, or if the other posters advice doesn't. lemme know.

Just curious, did you download mozilla, or mozilla firefox? And what type of probs did you have?

I have mozilla firefox, and haven't had any problems with it at all, except that sometimes it's a little-too high-security, so I can't get into things as easily as I'd like. This may have to do with my settings, though. It is quite nice for those sites where you don't want to be bombarded by pop-ups. A friend downloaded it for me, actually, so I really don't know much about the process, unfortunately. :)

Firefox. I don't know, like I said, not sure if it is mozilla or me...but as soon as I began using it, I noticed that the time it took to load pages was a lot longer (assumed it was because of the pop up blocking) but within two days I couldn't get on ANY internet connection on my computer. I don't have a clue what the problem is, and just switched to the guest sign on and have been using it. So haven't made my hubby look into it. Most everyone I talk to loves it, with the exception of a few probs similar to mind, so definitely not saying not to, but just a heads up.

Yeah StS its just the avatars, all other pictures I can see! I have XP. On my daughters computer its XP also and I can view avatars. So it has to be something in my settings on this computer.

SqueezeTheShaman,

the slow loading thing is a problem for some users, although I *think* they fixed it in 1.0... I had that problem also with earlier releases but I don't remember having to apply the patch with the newest version. Either way, the "patch" is a small program that you can download that will automatically optimize your settings so that load times are significantly faster (you can view all these settings by typing about:config into firefox's address bar). It's called mozilla optimizer for anyone who's interested; typing that into google should get it on the 1st result.

Edit:
oh yeah, Sherrie, do you have any sort of ad-blocking or popup-blocking type software on your computer that isn't on your daughters?? Sometimes those can cause problems with certain images.

I have Norton on this computer, and McAfee on the other. Yes it does have pop up blocker, you think that may cause a problem?

I have XP with the Service pack II installed and I don't have a problem. I've heard some bad things about mozilla when it comes to veiwing certain pages... hmmmm.....

It might also be linked to your security settings (???)...

Sorry, I guess I'm not too much of a computer nerd, hehe

I cant figure it out either! Ive trying changing all kinds of things in my options, and in my Norton Internet security, but no success. But whats odd, is that I can view the user icons or avatars on Quinns board! And other boards.

OK....next question. Now that I can see the icons if I want to put my picture under my username how do I do it? Do I need to resize a picture? Or will it do it automatically?
