QuoteReplyTopic: Curly hair help!! Posted: February 17 2005 at 11:25pm
Ok so I got my extensions in and everything seems ok for now.
My problem is that this hair is so curly/wavy that it curls around itself and forms these ropes of hair. Ive combed and combed and even resorted to brushing but it still ropes around itself. Im going to wash it tomorrow and see if that helps, any other suggestions I might try?
I had to cut about an inch off the bottom cause it had this little curl that got into a tangled mess, now at least I can brush through it from top to bottom.
We put in all the extensions that I made last night and actually need about 2 more rows at the top below the crown. Im going to use Amm's method of pre-tipping with a shrinkie then put that inside another shrinkie. My husband said he dosnt think he's dexstrous enough to try just folding it and sticking it in.
Before this install I had 1B color in my hair. When I dyed it the #30 to match the extensions, my roots dyed perfectly but of course the bottom 3/4 is a very dark auburn. The extensions match my root color perfectly but I have these streaks of dark auburn that Im not sure if I like.
SHE human hair blend, 18", #4 with Supertape.

Emma, was you hair dyed dark? If so, dye won't lift the color lighter. You need a colorstripper (e.g. One n Only Colorfix) to remove the dark dye first.
I think washing it with warm water would straighten it considerably, as would lightly blow-drying it while separating the strands with your fingers. :)
Ok washed it, blow dried it and it dosnt do its rope trick anymore. Looks alot more like real hair. The ends get very very ratty though. I spent an hour blow drying and brushing the ends and I still cant get a brush through it from top to bottom without snags. I still have to put in 2 more rows tonight so hopefully it will blend in better. In the back you can see exactly where my hair ends because of the dark auburn.
Ok here it is, You can see exactly where my darker hair ends but like I said I still need to add 2 rows at the top. Then ends are looking frizzy, I think I might try the baby oil gel someone mentioned before and see if that helps.
