So, why are heat seals smaller than pinchbraids, beyond just deciding to use less hair?
The attachments are smaller, just because they are. It isn't necessarily using LESS hair, just making smaller more abundant connections. It takes longer to do but the end result is fuller and not as "piecey".
s there something about the loop/seal itself that makes it smaller? Are the boxbraids themselves allowed to be shorter because the seal gives it extra security?
Pinchbraids are entire strands of the persons hair and entire strands of added hair. The way I do it, I have synth and the clients hair incorporated into each strand of the braid in even amounts. (I don't do boxbraids) The braids are shorter because there is less hair that has to be braided to make enough turns to make a good connection.
It's so funny because I looked at that photo several times and never even noticed the heat seals until Rae pointed them out--now, that's tiny!

Wow that looks fab....and ur hair looks in remarkably good condition after using high lift tint-and the blonde came out well, what's your secret?. I love the extensions they look so natural...luv it!!!
so natural! that is a thing of beauty! thanks for posting - the thing that is fascinating to me is that the "layers" are pretty inconspicuous and blended ...i guess that is part of the secret!
Well, I suppose it would depend on how many applications you have on there, if it is over bleach and if you sat under heat to set it. But definitely try it, it does work.
My red was over lightened but not bleached hair, no dryer and just one app.
We are off topic, am I going to be yelled at? haha.
Umm, so you are saying that I can get this SPFX red out with out bleaching??? And just use a hilift blond color instead? I don't get it but then again I am a bit typsy.
No! No bleach! It's amazing.. I used Colorly SSG, it was way too gold so I went over it with SSB. Hi lift tint, 40 vol. first time, 20 vol the second time. That red comes RIGHT out. It's kind of an unknown secret. Good that I didn't sit with the SFX under a dryer this time so it was easier. When I had fuchsia pink hair, it took forever to get rid of and I had salmon ends.
