QuoteReplyTopic: Human Hair Price Increase? Posted: February 26 2005 at 9:31pm
Well I just got word from my Korean supplier that the remy hair that I buy has went up in price, to the point that I wont buy it anymore because its too costly, so I guess I am now looking for different human hair.... this bites!
He said that the cost of huyman hair has went up by 20% and the US dollar has devalued by 20% in the past year. My small order used to cost me $330.00 and is now $485.00
This is the only place in the past few years that I purchase human hair from, and usually only place an order about every 6 months or so, has anyone else seen price increases with their suppliers over the past year? Or is my supplier just jacking up prices? I think they may want to get away from small orders. The price drop is significant for orders of 100 bundles.....YEAH RIGHT!
Sherrie~ No, every supplier I have delt with in the last year has jacked the prices up. Even the minimums have increased to a point where I don't know if I can import anymore. I posted in another thread a while back about the huge price increases that I am finding from supplier to supplier. I do think they are trying to cut out the smaller bulk orders and catering to the people who can stock warehouses. The hair extension business is booming now and so suppliers are getting more demanding!! I contact new suppliers each week and half of them don't even return your mail. So I know how your feeling!!

All the more reason to find find the right synthetic that works for me and the ladies that I do. I have a feeling those that have been hesitant to try synthetic may be willing to do so now!
That's the reason why I am going on the Prostyles course. Synth is going to become very popular, the more human hair continues to sky rocket!! I'm with you on that!!
Sherrie, I'm sorry to hear that. I know you've been pleased with your supplier up to now.
I'm confident that you'll find some synth that works for you. In the meantime, maybe you can use Bohyme. It's not as cheap as the hair you were getting, but it's about the cheapest decent-quality hair on the market that people seem consistently pleased with. I know some of the Glamourhair and H&H hair is quite good, but those high-quality blends are, not surpisingly, higher priced...
And it's true: The devaluation of the dollar is really screwing us, too.
Well I guess I cant complain too much really after checking around on other comparable hair. Its still less expensive with the price increase than even Bohyme. I guess I had just been spoiled with the $55-65 per bundle price(depending on size of order). Now it will be just about $100 per bundle of 4 oz. which is already pretipped in choice of 'nail' tip or 'stick' tip. Im working on something with John to try and get the cost down a bit, but I will probably have to make at least a certain minimum order to do this.
You know....speaking of Glamourhair. I used to buy Glamourhair about 3/4 years ago when it was only about $65.00! I quit buying it when they increased the price to $140.00! I was happy with the quality, but not the price change!
I can get human locally, it's a 'Goddess Remi or Remy' brand - I don't have any personal expirence with it, but the man told me it was better than the Bohyme. I'll be putting some of this in prob. next week. It's $50 for 20-22" package.
If it works out for me, I'll be happy to send you some.
It is what it is...

Well I ended up paying $90 per bundle (including all the fees) thats what it worked out to. If I place bigger orders I could get this down to around $70-$75 per bundle of 4 oz remy pretipped in choice of sticktip or nailtip. I ordered extra hair as samples if anyone is interested bmail me. I will get it in about 2 weeks as they have a new production run then. (of course something I ordered was not in stock) The website is www.hair21.com for anyone who is interested. I have always been consistantly happy with this hair, I am sure it may not compare to Great Lengths or some of the TOP Dollar brands (that Ive never used) but it has been far better than any other brand that Ive used. I would say it is close in comparison to Bohyme, but personally I like the way this hair feels better than Bohyme.
I know we talked a little about it before, but as soon as I know I can actually do the extensions and it look good with my short hair, I then will maybe be interested in going in with you. Like the idea of not having to change them out as quickly as the synth. And I love that they come pretipped! NOT looking forward to tippin my synth!
All they offer is straight though, right? I have some pretty hair I picked up at sallys, to play with and there is no way it would look good on me. Too stick straight, and thin, my hairs waves would poke right out of the top. Even with curlers, the wave is too "perfect" if that makes sense, the hair is just so damn smooth. Anyway, rambling :)

All they stock is straight. But if I want to wait on orders (which is what Im doing now) it can be purchased in other textures. It costs a little more, like $7 a bundle or something, but yes you can get it.
Sherrie~ John doesn't reply to e-mails. I have e-mailed him twice to find out about a price on his connector irons, shrinkage tubes (is this his shrinkies?) and the links he sells. No response from him at all. I guess he has enough business?!!
He certainly put up his prices on his hair, didn't you say you used to pay about $50 a 4 oz bundle?
Do you like his nail hair or stick hair? Does he only have 10-13 colors available in this hair? What textures does he offer?
Thanks

Save~a ~Stray, you may not get a reply either. It seems they really dont want to sell to the small customer. They are a LARGE manufacturer and mostly only deal with large wholesale orders (like over 100 bundles per color) I think the only reason that he still works with me is because I have bought from him for so long. And he is hoping I will at some point start distributing his products.
I love the hair, I have zero complaints with the hair. Thats why Im trying to find a way to keep getting it and make it affordable to buy!
Yes the selection is limited to I think 10 colors, but Ive never had a problem with coloring it to match.
You can get the hair in wave and curl textures, they dont stock it, so its a special order, takes a few weeks to get a special order. Ive never ordered anything other than straight and body wave, so I cant tell you anything about the other textures.
Yes I used to pay around $50-$60 ish (depending on size of order and all the fees included). But even with my small order at $90 per 4 oz. Its still WAY less expensive than other comparable remy hair(and its already tipped) so its still reasonable in comparison.
I would be buying bulk each order. I now have to order 20 kilos (200 bundles) each time from my current guy. He actually owes me a couple kilos of hair, but said he won't send it untill I place another 20 kilo order. Damn, these guy's are getting greedy!! What happened to the 1-5 kilo orders?!! Maybe I can go in with you on your next order to get better prices. I actually have been working on something, so I might be able to find a better price overall. I will let you know if I can beat his prices. Do you get the nail or stick hair? I usually buy hand-tied wefted hair, not pre-tipped hair. What connector iron works well with his hair? He has a lot of tools, which I would love to know his prices. I did say I would buy bulk, but I don't know what his deal is!!

Wow that is a huge order! I cannot imagine what that would cost!
Im sorry that they dont return your emails, I guess its their loss. I also think they are geared toward the pretipped hair, and I know they sell bulk hair. and I think they do sell wefted hair but I think its a HUGE order something like a 1000 bundles or somehting (not sure on that one)
I think the wands are pretty standard. The 220 is single sided temp controlled and the 280 is dual sided (and I am pretty sure) temp controlled.
1000 bundles-wefted-Holly Molly!! That's outta my league!! I won't be placing a huge hair order for quite sometime again. Just hoping to find potential suppliers in the meantime with decent prices especially for European hair (yeah, and everyone else).
Sherrie, can I send you a sample of the hair I have for a sample of John's when you get it?
