How do you know that NBC won't let her have the hairstyle on the show? The reason that it hasn't yet is because the shooting for some episodes happened before the cut. Do you know something about what will happen on Friends, or are you just speculating?

While I certainly agree with your assessment that Jennifer's haircut bites (as I've said, what a waste), I disagree with your take on how they will handle it on the show "Friends." I predicted the extensions she was wearing at the tail end of last year would somehow be written into an episode as she got her hair cut. While that may not happen (stand by), this season, her hair is already getting shorter. The extensions are gone. In fact, in the opening of the show, one of the clips of Jennifer on Thursday night showed her with much shorter hair. Unlike the "Phoebe" character, which they dumbed down by keeping her same attitude and look (no offense intended, blonde women), hair has always been a major part of Rachel's character. Shoot, her old haircut was known as "The Rachel." It will be a sad day for me when they finally show the short hair on the show. Fortunately, "Friends" has enough of an audience that it should not suffer as "Felicity" did and has. OK, your turn to tell me how a woman's haircut has no effect on ratings.
