hi im samantha im new im 19 im from long island new york on saturday i went to get my longish hair cut alot shorter i have had long hair for the past 3 years and have really only been trimming it i decided to get a short one length bob cut to my chin i went to the same place i always go but the girl cut my hair alot shorter than i wanted i asked very simply for a one length cut to my chin this meant i was already cutting off about 6 inches she said wow you are going short thats brave to wich i just smiled she started cutting in the back i saw big pieces coming off to wich i thought ok here we go when she cut my first side it looked like she was cutting it a little higher than my chin SHE WAS she cut them to my lips i said to her thats kinda short she said when it dries itll be ABOUT chin length i tho ught ok it looked short but it looked ok to me then she began blow drying it when it was dry it looked cute but about 2 inches shorter than i wanted i was kinda upset but i was telling myself i wanted it short anyway and it did look cute
THEN
she said do you want me to neaten up the back as she was reaching for a shaver i said yeah ok (thinking she meant the hairs on my neck what ever she didnt cut off with the scissor) the next thing i knew she turned on the shaver and took a big swipe off the back of my head i said WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? she said im buzzing the nape i said no no i thought you were getting the long hairs on my neck she said no im doing the nape she said thats normal when she gives a short bob i was so mad but i told her to finish she shaved the whole underneath very short like a boys hair (peach fuzzy) i look like a mushroom head the cut is not cute at all and i have shaved hair what the helck am i gonna do now? i wish i just never got the haircut at all has anyone ever had this happen to them i can barely put my hair up and the back looks so short all i wanted was a chin length bob now ill have to wait months for even that

I am SO sorry for you. The exact same thing happened to a roommate of mine 20+ years ago when were studying in London. We went to a fancy salon there, and she ended up with a buzzed nape and cried the whole way home. We were about your age, too.
I guess your choices are to wait a few months while the buzzed area grows out, keeping the same style in the meantime, or to not wait as long and get a different style with some layering or tapering on the sides to get away from the "mushroom" effect sooner. I guess it depends on your face shape, hair texture and the ultimate look you want. You could try finding a picture of a short style you like and take it to a (different) stylist. But if it looked cute before she did the buzzing, maybe waiting is the best thing. If you do, I bet you`ll be surprised at how fast it grows out.
Samantha, I am so sorry for you ...I am sorry you didn`t get what you asked for. What happened to me wasn`t as extreme...but my hair was still pretty damn short. I went from mid back to hair that was 2-3 inches above my shoulders..and the layers were lip length...ah...I have been growing it out for about 5 weeks now and it`s grown about 3/4 of an inch...It`s a long haul...but don`t give up ...your hair will grow..just leave it alone..It`ll look cute the longer it gets...Good luck!!!
Second that hairdresser needs to be fired. Wet hair shrinks when it dries not the other way around. Have you tried getting your money back? You should at least try that. I realize its hard to deal with this stuff but you need to tell the manager or something. You don`t want this stylist to do the same thing to someone else do you?
But understand that sometimes even the owners or managers can be a pain in the butt.
If you can`t get anywhere with the salon then take other action. You can write or call your state board of cosmetology
Unfortunate that she did that to you..... I wish I could see it, I absolutly love buzzed napes! There so sexy, and if you havent noticed yet Samantha, try caressing your fuzzy nape or have your bf kiss and nuzzle you back there a bit, I think you`ll be pleasently suprised. :-)
its been over a week since my bad cut i have to say one thing i have gotten soooo many compliments on it im growing to like it a tad more but im not really that happy i have been wanting to cut bangs but im gonna hold off i think till my hair grows a bit my boyfriend actually likes it or so he says he said i should dye it now really red i dunno
news! i have dyed my hair i dyed it the coolsest color herbal essence makes a new color called fiesty pumpkin its very cute looks really orangey i love it i decided against bangs and my hair is lookin a lil longer thank god soon ill be cutting it all chin length maybe by christmas ok bye
