im 15 yrs. old and for the past 5 years ive been trying to find a way to wear my hair so its not huge and frizzy. my hair is between curly and wavy but its very thick and frizzy. I used to always wear it in a ponytail but im so sick of that. my hair goes from long to short repeatedly. i let it grow long thinking it wont be as big and frizzy..but its just harder to deal with. i then cut it short hoping it will be easier to manage...that doesnt go over well. HELP ME!! i want my hair to be long but its just to frizzy to deal with!!
does anyone have any products or styling tips?!?!
Good luck to all of u with curly hair!! If it fustrates u like it does me...be
careful..dont let it take over your life!

I know exactly how you feel. I did the same thing. Long hair so the weight of the hair pulls it down and lessens the frizzies, then when the heat gets to me I cut it to shoulder length. Eventually it grows long again because I haven`t really found a shop that understands what my hair does. You see, my hair shrinks in length as it drys. I have been looking for a style that works with my hair for most of my adult life. What I found recently is to use the hair serum, then curly gel, then regular gel. I never use a blow dryer on my hair or I would look like a puff ball. You know like I stuck my finger in a socket? Fun, fun...

At one time in my past I tried to "curl" my hair straight. For anyone who doesn`t have a clue what that means, I envy them. It doesn`t change, it`s still frizzy

If anyone knows of a way other than gel products I would love to hear of it. I`m once again thinking of having my hair cut only this time in a "shag" like back in the 70`s. At least I will actually have the curl showing. My hair is curly underneath in little pin curls and wavy/frizzy on the top. EEEEEKKKKKK!

Anyone have any suggestions?

I have hair exactly like yours. And I have some advice for you. Go to the nearest beauty salon and have them put your hair in long layers. It helps the curls and frizzies. Then go to a Sally store or a store that specially sells black people hair products. They are made to moisturize. Look for something called POMADE this works Excellent for frizz. Just put a large (depending on length and thickness) dollop in your hair while wet. And keep working it into your hair. It will feel sticky and greasy but when it dries it looks gorgeous and very shiny.I hope it works for you. feel free to email me with any other questions. I`m a pro.

I know just how u feel. I am 13 and in 8th grade. My hair looks horrible. It is shoulder length. Frizzy, curly and wavy. I have the same concepts. It helps a little to grow it out but i hate it on my neck most of the time. My dad sais put it in a pony tail but i get tired of it to. it is plain. I try blow drying it but that just frizzes it. Curling irons take to much of my time. my dad has curly hair too. He is the one who gave it to me. He tried staightening his hair and he said it just fries it . If u have n e solutions e mail me plz.
thanx brooke

Is POMADE the brand name or just a description of the product?

While we are on the topic....
I`ve had good luck with the moisturizing factor in gels / curl activators made for black women; but unfortunately I haven`t found one that has good moisture AND good hold. The moisturizers in these type products make my hair actually feel soft with moisture, which is rare thing with my long, thick, course, wavy / curly, frizzy (white girl) hair.....but the holding / staying power in these gels is severely lacking. Anyone know of any that moisturize and have a strong hold?

I`m hearing you. I too have curly hair that can sometimes be a pain. I suggest (as this works qutie well for me) that you find a mouse for curly hair. When your hair is still soaking wet tip your head upside down and squeaze all the excess water out. Apply mouse all over your hair and scrunch it in your hands. May take a few attempts to get the amount of mouse right. Make sure you look for a mouse thats light and non sticky coz you don`t want yuor curls to be crunchy.

I have been using Batia and Aleeza Sculpting Gel. It`s moisturizing and sets my hair really well. I can use it wet, dry, with curling irons, brushes, etc. When I use it with wet hair, the gel makes my hair more shiny. When I use it with dry hair, it gives my hair softness.

their website is http://www.batiaandaleeza.com

and the product is called Bio-Herbal Mineral Sculpting Gel

It`s about 14.95$ on the website and works wonders for me.

And I thought I was the only one with this problem! I`m 15 and my hair is also VERY thick and wavy/curly. I`m sick of having to wet my hair every time I need to style it. Anti frizz serums don`t work, and curl hydrating shampoos don`t either. I usually apply an anti frizz mouse onto damp hair, then physique curl gel, then regular gel, then a whole lotta (flexible)hair spray, but I think that`s too much chemicals on my hair. Anyone gotta suggestion?

pomade is a product. not a brand or the name of something...just like gel is gel, pomade is pomade. there are many brands that make pomade. i`ve used the got2be pomade, but it always makes my hair greasy, even if i put in a little bit. but it might work for you.
