Hi,

My hair is very curly and frizzy and cannot be worn down because of the texture. I recently had it blow dried straight and it was completley different hair - smooth and shiny. I`ve decided i would like to go the chemical route and get it straightened permanently. Does anyone have any help for me on what the best route to go is? Thanks in advance.

Hi there. I`m 31 years old and have natural curly hair and have been thru it all...long, short, straightened, etc. The thing I noticed with chemical relaxers is that they really don`t make your hair all that straight, you still have to blow dry your hair straight and use lots of products. Usually when you first do it, it`s like your hair loses all of its body...then gradually over a week or two, the body starts coming back, but you never really have straight hair. I always found that either wearing my hair curly the way it wants to be...or just blowing it straight with products on a day by day basis is the best way...I can`t say for sure what you`ll experience, but I was never happy with checmically straightened hair and usually wished I hadn`t done it after I had.

I`d like to know how those of you who do use chemical straighteners manage to keep the hair straight during the process of applying the chemicals. That`s the biggest problem, as it won`t work if I don`t keep the hair staright as a stick.

Whatever you do DO NOT GET IT RELAXED!!! This will does not have the same effect as blow drying it straight.

There`s another process out there that straightens hair permanently and it`s even better than blow drying it. If you want more info and/or my before and after pics email me at abhakta376@aol.com and put YUKO in the subject line otherwise you will not get a response.
