QuoteReplyTopic: help with my curly hair! Posted: February 15 2002 at 2:12pm
I have naturally curly hair and am having some problems. From my scalp and an inch down my hair is straight and then is curly the rest of the way. How do I get that top part curly? I have medium texture hair, 3 inches past my shoulders, and in between tight and loose curls.
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you could try and get some volumizing spray or some spray gel and use a diffuser up against the roots. you could also try and get some long layers so it will bounce up.

Sometimes it helps to blow dry your hair upside down. I also use little claw clips to hold my hair so gravity can`t work against it. I`ve also started using Funky Chunky before my mousse and this seemed to help.

You can get it at places like Target and WalMart. It is in with the John Frieda stuff (frizz ease, etc). It`s with his Sheer Blonde line but I`m not blonde and use it anyway. :) It`s around $5 I think but lasts a long time. I put my wet hair in three sections, put a little (dime size) amount in one hand, rub my hands together and then smooth over and through my hair. If I have time I use my pick to help make sure it`s distributed well. I`ve found that using too much it tends to get kind of flaky when it dries.
I`ve also tried washing my hair upside down in the shower. Kind of hard to get used to at first but it kind of works.
