Help - need advice for frizzy hair

I need help - I am growing out my hair for the first time - I have had short hair all my life. I am discovering that my hair is rather course and gets sort of frizzy with "halos". I am looking for a leave-in product to make my hair soft and shiny - something that detangles and basically weighs down my hair and makes it "hang" rather than float around my head - ideally I would also like something that doesn`t dry out or damage my hair as well. I don`t use any heat on my head - no hair dryers, curling irons, hot water - this seems to help - but any product recommendations or care tips - I would greatly appreciate.
