Going to a Spiral Perm

I`m very over the long straight look and have made a decision to go with a spiral perm. I just love the perm look! I`m a little confused about maintaining my perm. I read somewhere they make perms for already permed hair. When my curls relax do I get a perm for previously permed hair or just get an identical perm and process it less time. And what about new growth. Can you perm just the new growth if the ends still have good tight curl.
