I used the natualaxer from African Wonders on my daughter today. She has very curly, porous, knotty hair. I relaxed her hair a few days ago with Ogilvie straightener. I used the straightening method for the Naturalaxer, which is to leave the product on a long time, and to comb hair straight with the product on the hair. I have NOT hot combed and flat ironed her hair yet, so I do not know if her hair is going to stay straight. I can tell that I will not need the heat appliances on the maximim heat, as I normally do, and I can tell that it is going to take half the time to style her hair, because her hair is half as bushy as normal. I am going to style her hair later tonight, and I will post those results. I can tell after blow drying that her hair is in better condition than before using the naturalaxer. Her hair is straighter than with a traditional relaxer, just after blow drying. The Naturalaxer definately reduces bulky, puffy hair. My daughter has hair that shrinks into dreadlocks if it is not brushed all day. Every relaxer I have ever used damaged her hair in some way. There is no damage from the Naturalaxer. Her hair strands do not seem melted or fried, like usual after relaxing, they are not fragile, or brittle, they do not pop up and get tangled when it is wet. Her hair is softer than before using the Naturalaxer. I would suggest the product for anyone who has had bad results from traditional department store relaxers, or expensive trips to the salon that result in the same damage as if you had used a box relaxer. I chose the Naturalaxer because I have tried everything available to straighten hair, with the exception of that expensive japanese treatment, and no product has made my daughter's hair easier to style, and they all damage her hair, the strands get very thin, the ends split, she has white balls on the tips of her hair where the hair breaks, I think that is the cuticle exposed, and she has broken hairs all over her head. I am extremely pleased with the Naturalaxer. I am going to buy more soon. I would suggest using a thick greasy balm on the ears, hairline, neck and forehead. My daughter's ear was a little pink for about 20 minutes, I greased most of her hairline, but forgot to do her ears. She has a lot of allergies, which may account for the redness. She said the ear did not hurt, burn or feel uncomfortable in any way. I would also suggest that you rinse your hair in as cool water as possible. The cooler water helps to wash away the oils, and will minimize redness, or irritation if you have super sensitive skin. I also used a neutralizing shampoo in between washing with the African Wonder's shampoo. I think hair that is less porous than my daughter's would take 2 applications to see a difference. This product is great, and worth every penny if you have hair that does not respond to typical relaxers. I do want to add that unless you have smmoth, loose curls, you should not expect to be able to blow dry your hair with a brush, and it is going to be flat, straight and silky. I think most people will still have to style their hair the regular way, but you will see that it is easier to style, and 80% less tangles and shrinkage. Anyone who has questions can post, or email me, I will respond as soon as possible. Wendy --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I flat ironed and hot combed mt daughter's hair last night. It was easier, and it has less tangles, and smoother appearance. It was even still nice this morning when she woke up. Wendy
