Hey all. My hair use to be naturally curly when i was younger. Now years after getting my hair pressed every 2 weeks for the past 9 years of my life, my hair curls but looks frizzy around the edges of my hair. I would like suggestions on what to use to fix this problem. I've been looking at the Kerastase but i must admit it is expensive. Is there another product that is cheaper that works just as good, or should i just get the kerastase?

Have you tried a leave-in conditioner or hair serum? Biosilk is really good. Curly hair needs some internal weight in the form of products so you dont have flyaway, but not too much or you get greasy weighed down curls.

The Biosilk silk therapy leave-in is really good,a little goes a long way. I switch around with shampoos myself but the leave-ins stay the same for me. I am using Back to Basics by Graham Webb right now, the coconut mango,i really like it, i might try the Rasberry Almond,it says its for damaged hair or overly dry hair,of which mine is neither but it will dry out over time if i dont use leave-ins,i thought that might help the problem, worth a try.

If you don't have the funds or you don't want to spend it,just use your favorite body lotion, whatever is left on you hands after you have used it everywhere else, and smooth it over your ends. I do this sometimes anyway, especially during the winter months.Hope this helps.

L'Oreal Nature's Therapy Heat Control Leave-in Protection Creme.

Neutrogena Overnight Therapy Replenishing Treatment.

Soft & Beautiful Oil Moisturizing Lotion.

Redken All Soft Addictive Hair Transformer.

These are all leave-in conditioners for dry to very dry hair or coarse hair.  Your ends that are frizzy may need to be trimmed because it sounds like they might be fried from all that pressing.

One note on Kerastase, the products are very expensive.  Expensive products don't work any better than less expensive products!

hey. this may be a dumb question, but what exactly is pressing? how does one press one's hair?
learn to love what you were born with
you can do anything if you set your mindto it (just dont try this with hair, that could turn out bad)

Pressing is done with irons(for hair-not the kind for clothing) It is very damaging.,but on certain hair types, it is the only thing that will straighten the hair or make it "do-able".

A question for xtremehot3, do you use products in your hair to protect it before you press? That is extremly important!. And i have never used Kerastase but my experience is that price doesnt necessarily mean its better. I mean I'm sure its better than the 99cent stuff at the store but there are a lot of good products out there, I can only use organic now because of my allergies but my hair really liked Biosilk products-you just have to clarify once in awhile. Some people really like Frizz-Ease that you can get at Walmart although it didnt do anything for my frizz, i had to get it cut off and stop straightening it.I use velcro rollers and no blowdryer now. And on days i cant control it that way, i just put it back in combs. Hope this helps.

Hi. I would try some jojoba oil just rubbed lightly through the ends as a leave in. You could also mix some aloe vera gel, jojoba and water in a spritzer and use it that way too. my curls were ravaged from flat irons too, and i've found the best products to rehydrate the hair are the natural ones.

Hey extrere hot3,

I'm mitch5150. I've been a haircutter/hairstylist since 1993. First I would do is trim the ends of your hair don't let the stylist scalp you. Tell them exactly what you want ask tons of questions. Then get yourself a good leave in conditioner. Dry and style your hair with the conditioner in your hair. You can rinse out the conditioner if you like. If you have any questions you can email me at customonegtr@rock.com I would be glad to answer any questions and help you out with anything you want to do with your hair.

Sincerely

mitch5150
