I've recently cut my hair short t get rid of the relaxer so that my hair's natural curl texture can grow freely. Has anyone else made this transition? And maybe has some products to share?
I am in the process of growing out my relaxer, and will be cutting the relaxed part off as soon as I get the nerve! I have about 3 in. of new growth. I just go get my hair blown straight every week & wear it in a wrap style for now, but I've also worn braids & flat twists. ANYWAY, you should check out this website and discussion board for help with styling natural hair: www.blackhaircare.com. The discussion board is great!

I am currently trying to grow out myrelaxed hair too.I visit the black hair care discussion group quite often. There is a lot of good information in there.I use organic root product line to keep my hair mosturized until ot grows out long enough for me to cut the perm out.
You are on the right track, it's always good to go natural. It's always best to get chemicals out of your hair, good for you. While you are going through this process, you want to consider using some gels or oil moisturizers to give your hair a very healthy look.

I am in agreement with some of the other ladies! I have finally gotten up enough nerve to follow through with the discontinued use of relaxers!!! My hair has good length (just above my bra clasp), but it`s the thickness that is lacking! I have trouble achieving those crinkly full looks. I will allow my hair to air dry and simply apply Infusium leave-in conditioner and it dries curly/wavy...BUT...it looks so thin! I`ve decided to ditch the relaxing regime and go back natural! I was just wondering if it`s necessary for me to cut my hair to do so! I don`t want to cut it just yet, but I know I will eventually have to cut the ends to cut the relaxed hair off...I`m just interested to know if anyone has any suggestions for the "growing out" process while maintaing a professional appearance (I work in an office environment)....
I`ve used the Organic Root and all it did was tingle my hair and it irritated my scalp. Just be careful what you use. It may work for some, but not all, trust me, I know. I`ve used almost everthing, almost! Good luck with your hair probs & may God bless you!
