Alright. I`m a sixteen year old girl, with natural hair that is about 4 inches long. I`ve been wearing them in braids (not synthetic ones) for a long time and I REALLY need a new style. Can anyone suggest something new, without weave - ASAP? And probably something my mommy will agree with as well. K? I suppose what I`m really looking for is something new to do with my braids, a new way to arrange it or something. Please don`t ignore this one. I am oh, soooooooo desperate!

P.S I REALLY need this SOON

Girl,

You could get alot of tips from Brandy in "Moesha" cause that girl is the diva of braids!!! Also, check out the magazines with braided hairstyles. Cornrows are a hot style now, try those if you haven`t.

You need to get the book Let`s talk hair by Pamela Ferrell. It`s all about maintaining, protecting and styling our hair. She has lots of pictures of different styles of hair from locks to microbraiding. You will get some great ideas from it and be able to use this book in the years to come.
would love to establish locks

Well congrats on staying perm free. Have you tried the two strand twist look, or maybe even dreads, bantu knots, cornrows. Try things with different hair accessories, scarfs, barrettes, head bands. You`d be surprise with some of the creative styles you can come up with. Check out some of the hair magazines for ideas, and if all else fails hit up a good salon. Goodluck

Hey Gurl,
Have you tried zigzag cornrows?
Or micro`s
If you look in black hair magzine and look for Brandy there maybe some other things you can do
some of the stuff that i do with my braids are,
Twists, and the braid it behind it.
Like you do the twist right, and then you put the rubber band on it then you start braiding where the rubber band stopped if you don`t understand email me back and ill try to help you a little more ok
have a wonderful day ;o)

flat twists are real fun to do with natural hair too. It takes about the same amount of time to put in as cornrows, but it gives your hair a different kind of glossy look, and it takes half the time to take out.
