It might be best to not fight the curl but work with it. There are several products out on the market that can help maintain the hair`s curl with "control". If you want super straight hair though your best bet is to get a relaxer which will permanently change the structure of your hair from curly to straight. I would not recommend it b/c the stuff is strong and not good on the skin and it exposes your scalp to these chemicals which can cause burns, hair loss and no hair regrowth.

Do some research on the Web. There are newsgroups on Yahoo (naturalgrooming & Black Tresses) that may help you. Also, if you`re considering relaxing/"texturizing", then read up on the different chemicals used and their effects on the hair so you`ll be knowledgeable. For example, http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip086.htm

Before getting a permanent relaxer, check out other ways to straighten your hair like http://www.dlowshampoosystem.com This system is for natural (curly) and relaxed hair WITHOUT the chemicals so you do not have to worry about damage. Or check out the Dudley System line at http://www.dudleyq.com

As someone said, do not fight your curls, be blessed that you have them. Always love your hair no matter how you wear it. Peace.
