I have shoulder length hair that is fairly healthy. I wanted to know ways I could prevent flat ironing or curling my hair every 2-3 days. I wrap my hair at night but it is very limp in the morning which forces me to apply heat on my hair. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
I wrap my hair every night and my hair gets very limp too so I can relate. But, I have to disagree with you on that statement "which forces me to apply heat". When my hair is limp and lifeless I immediately run for a scrunchy or hair clip. Or I`ll use rollers for bounce.No heat, no fuss. I`m still trying to find new ways to put my hair up. But, I hope I`ve helped some.

Thanks for your reply too! I use the hard plastic kind that they use in the salon because I always get doobies. Sponge rollers are also good especially but you should put something over the rollers (foil, tissue) to protect it from snagging. If you use the hard kind make sure you buy the ones with attachments. That is unless you know how to keep them in place with those lil side clips they use in the salons.
Do you get doobies? If so, you know what they use to make it soo soft and silky. I can never get the same effect when I experiment at home. ~~~~~Vy
I have the same problem you described... What I do is use the metallic rollers...(hard plastic rollers, the size I use is like soup can-size roller and I use the clips) I will add a little setting lotion on my ends and sit under bonnet dryer for about 10-15minutes... and afterwards, my hair have perfect curls, not too tight curls, but nice bouncy curls...
Try the heatcap (www.heatcap.com)--you can microwave it and it gives you curls like a roller set. I have been telling anyone that will listen about it--I love it.

I am not sure if you like the "wavy" look to hair or not, but I do
two-strand twists to my hair at night and then I unravel them in the
morning and go. It is a lot simpler and a lot healthier (as long
as the twists are too tight) than using heat everyday.

What I do sometimes is use old fashioned wire rollers with the end papers overnight. I then wrap my hair when I get up in the morning. I will take my shower, eat breakfast and everything while by hair is wrapped. Before I get ready to leave, I comb the wrap and style it. It lays just perfect and is nice and bouncy

Magnetic rollers are hard to sleep on for some (not for me, I must be weird!) but healthier than sponge rollers. There are rollers that have silk/a silky fabric cover that are good as well. I find it a complete hassle to have to use end papers to avaid dryness... and I find that sponge rollers give more curl than body.
The trick to using curlers for body is to use the biggest curller size that can fin your hair. This way, your hair makes a volumous curve rather than actual curls.

I have seen the sponge rollers with silk covering them in Walgreens. I have never tried them.
