QuoteReplyTopic: HELP with BRAID ISSUE Posted: November 04 2001 at 4:02pm
I Paid a Braiding Salon $150.00 to get African twist/ Corkscrews on Friday at 6:30 pm and didn`t finish until 10:30 pm. During the process, I consistantly told the braider to stop pulling my hair. She started in the back, parting a desing oin my scalp and once she got tired and ready to go she changed the design to squares. The twist are uneven and you can tell where she didn`t grab enough and went back in to add more. As she went back to clip off the hairs that were sticking out, she began burning what I thought was just the ends of the hair. It wasn`t until the fire from the lighter toouched my scalp that I realized that she was burning the braid all the way up to the beginning. That area of my scalp is now sore and red. I have been giving 3 different names of the salon owner and none of them have been in for me to talk to. PLEASE HELP. Can I sue? What do I do? I know that the hair that once hung pass my shoulders will be gone when I go to take this out. Can I go to the Board of cosmetology?

If she did not know what she was doing, she should have not been braiding hair. You should have someone take pictures of your hair do and your scalp especially. It depends on what you are suing for. If you want your money back you can fight this in small claims court, but if you want this woman`s license to be taken away, then I don`t know what to tell you there. It may require further action. You can try to contact the Board of Cosmetology and see what kind of results you will get.
Usually they do burn the hair all the way up to get rid of the pieces that stick out, but not to the point in where your scalp is burned. You have a bogus job and I really feel bad for you. You may want to take out he corkscrews to see if your natural hair has been destroyed.
I am not sure of the state you live in, but you should use a search engine to get information on the Board of Cometology. Then contact them with your problem.
If you live in new york, I can give you the name of someone who does excellent work with braids. She is also my beautician. I had a short afro when I went to her and now I have hair past my shoulders. She is really good.
Sweetheart, I wish you the best of luck and please let us here at Hairboutique know what has happpened.
