Twists/Nots

I`m new here and I was just wondering if anyone could give me some styles for knots or twists. If you saw me on the street you would say I`m a really light skinned black girl -which I kind of am-. In actuality I`m Indian/Irish/Black so yeah I guess you could say I`m somewhat "mixed". My hair is really thick and curly but not kinky or nappy. It`s maybe one or two inches below my shoulders. I`ve been wearing my hair in either pig tails or pony tails since I can remember and I recently ventured into loose braids all over my head. When my hair is wet I have really tight ringlet type curls and when it`s dry the curls drop and become a lot more loose. But when my hair is blow-dryed it`s completely straight. I`ve never had a relaxer or anything like that. SO with all that said is there anyone who could help a girl who wants to stop looking like she`s 10 and leave the pony tails alone?
