yes it do. and it also depends which one you are geting. cornroles is really the only type of braid that makes your hair grow faster. when I get my hair braided it at least grow 3 to 4 times faster
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our life.

braids definatly make people's hair grow faster. my hair is weird. it will grow reallllllllly slow if its not in braids, but when i put it in braids, it grew 1 centimeter in a week!! woah i was happy. i think its the tightness of the braid that stimulates my hair to grow... hmmm...o.O people say that its bad to make braids too tight. i think te leading causes of hair damage towards braids that will not make the hair grow are braids that are too tight and micro braids because if a micro braid falls out, most likely most of the hair that got braided in the braid fell out as well.

braids help your hair to grow because you aren't messing with your hair and manipulating it. no heat no combing so it gives the hair time to grow and relax from thosee evil demons we put in it

It's called stress growth because your hair is pull at the root stimulating growth which can result in hair loss. If your hair is not in good condition then braids will make it worse. If done correctly and taken care of the yes you'll see a lot growth.
