*Biotin is good--at least 5mg (I suggest Country Life) *MSM is good for growth, but may initially cause breakouts (1,000 mg a day) *Hair needs protein--try adding a protein shake or a protein supplement (HF 37, Marlyn Formula 50, Head Start Protein) *Omega fatty acids help with softness (flaxseed oil, borage oil, evening primrose oil) Try using a supplement that contains Omega`s 3,6, and 9 (Health From the Sun`s Total EFA is good) *Silica helps hair growth (Kal Silica Plus or horsetail herb), but it seemed to help my nails more than my hair
I was wanting to know what vitmins do you guys take to premote hair growth and what advice would you give a person trying to grow her hair longer.
Dear CaliforniaBeauty You should take the hair vitamins for at least three months before you see the effect. However with Hair Formula 37, you may see the effect faster

I just started a vitamin regimen 2 weeks ago. Here is what was recommended to me by people on this site and a nutritionist. - Ultra Nourishair vitamin by GNC, 2 a day - MSM 2000mg - Biotin 1200mcg - Evening Primrose Oil 1300mg - Flax Seed Oil 1000mg - Silica 500mg - Multi-vitamin - Vitamin C 500mg
I recommend buying your vitamins from The Vitamin Shoppe, cause they`re cheaper than anywhere else. But Ultra Nourishair is made by GNC, so you have to buy it there. Right now the GNC has a sale, buy one get one off. Drink lots of water. You can break up the dosages, take some in the morning and some in evening. I also started using Wild Growth Hair Oil, i like it a lot. Good luck.

I buy lots of supplements from the Vitaminshoppe, but think the generic Vitaminshoppe brand products are generally inferior--try to stick to name brands when you shop there!

Many proteins and vitamins in hair products won't make your hair grow because the protein's molecules and vitamins' molecules are too big to be absorbed by the hair shaft.
