Most dandruff is caused by a fungal yeast it's noncontagious.Try not to scratch or rub your scalp because trichonodosis which is knotting[tangling] of curly[Black people's hair]hair is caused by excessive scratching or rubbing the scalp.If you want curly or wavy hair a curly perm,body wave[not that wavy, produces loose or soft waves],or texturizer will make your hair wavy these may require you to use mousse or curl activator[produces waves on longer hair and curls on very short hair] to keep it wavy or curly.Wet look gel activator will make your hair look wet and wavy.Curly perms and bodywaves straighten and wave can be used by people with Black people's hair.Excessive brushing and combing causes split ends.Use a wide tooth comb.
This all depends on the texture of your hair sweetie. As African-Americans, we all have different hair textures. Try not to wash your hair so often, maybe once or if it is a must, twice a week. Use hair moisturizers without petroluem or wax and keep your scalp moisturized with a light oil (olive oil from "Organic Root Stimulator" at Sally Beauty Supply). Organic Root Stimulator also has a dandruff and dry scalp line and the products are organic and WONDERFUL!!!!
I am sorry to here that about your mother. I have a mixed daughter and the only thing I do to her hair is wash it everyday then apply a few drops of this product called Wildgrowth oil. I purchased it at Sally's Beauty Supply for $7.99. It leaves hair very shiny and curly. If you decide to try this make sure not to use to much. It is very concentrated and has kind of a strong smell.

Yeah, I am pretty satisfied with the product and have been for quite some time now. I wonder if you can use it if the hair is not straightened.
Well, at certain stores, they have products that can make the hair curly. What I suggest is that if you become somewhat discouraged, you should wash your hair, gel it, or whatever is your normal routine. Then, you should tightly set them in rollers and apply a teeny amount of heat to it. I really don`t know what kind or curliness you want. After a while, all you`ll need to do to keep the curliness effect is curl it, if you want more, or keep it the way it is if you do not want to the curls to leave.

Ask your African American girlfriends if they can suggest a beauty shop for you. The women there should know how to work with a variety of hair types. Those shops are not just for women only and would most likely love to help you out and provide you with the information and instruction you need to take care of your hair. Hope this helps.
Hi. I am a mixed race (half-black, half-white teenager). I am raised by my white father who has no idea how to care for my hair. I don`t have contact with my mother, and haven`t since I was very little. For the majority of my life I’ve just kept it short, and shampooed whenever I took a shower. But since I’ve recently encountered a dandruff problem I’ve been looking into hair care methods. I would like any advice about treatments for haircare. I know absolutely nothing. I just discovered what a hot oil treatment was a few days ago. I’d really like to grow my hair out a few inches and for it to look the same way as when I get out of the shower. I don’t know how to achieve this effect. Thanks for any help.
